Anyone have the Dinan Stage 1 for 28i?
Have a Cobb Accessport on my 335i and love it. Was looking for similar options for the 28i I recently bought (couldn't find any manual 35i anywhere at the time) and came across the Dinan option but in all my searching I can find anyone writing about it for the 28i.
Anyone out there using it? I know about the Burger unit but am wondering about the Dinan. Looks to be similar increases to the Burger but sounds like a better engineered solution. |

Hi,
I come from an 335i to an 28i - but use an JB4 and been running it for over 12 months - with no issues. I also have the JB4 Connect kit as well

I have no issues with power delivery, I would say it is smoth.
Nice to have ability to read logs - no errors as of yet

Is the extra power worth the trouble? Is it noticeable?
I'm coming from a 135i with dinan Stg 3 and I'm worried that I'll be missing the power. Ken

Look at all the information - and my own driving experience I would say an 28i with an JB4 Stage 1, is comparable to an N54 Standard.
There is an difference in not having an 3ltr - the power delivery is smooth - but does not quiet feel like the N54 - but not really noticeable. The only negative is the N20 does not sound like an N54 - but cost of ownership means that I am saving £2,000 per annum which is about $3500 per year. I would not trade up from an 28i to 35i, but would trade up from an 28i to an 35is. I am taking the car to an track day next weekend - were they had the F1 race held in the past "donnington". And hoping to take the car to Centa Pod to do some 1/4 goes - hoping to be low 13's but sub 14 secs. Which is similar to an standard 35i.

Let us know how it does!
The JB4 says max 35hp and 50tq at the wheels. The Dinan says 47hp & 43tq although that is unclear if at the wheels or crank. I think coming from a 135 with stage3 you will be at a LOT less. My 335i has a Cobb at stage 1 91 octane, no mods other than Cobb and there is a very noticeable improvement, that car is MUCH faster than the Z4 and I imagine would continue to be so after adding either Dinan or JB4 to the Z4. I like the sound of the 28i, mostly on the overrun :-). It has some punch but just not in the same class. If either of these let's it be close to the stock 35i then that would be pretty nice. I still haven't been able to find anyone running the Dinan with a 28i though. Kevin |

What I have learned on the N20 it not as rock solid as the N54 - there are an few situations were peeps have blown the engine! Have an look on other forums.
One thing I do have to say - the JB4 for the Z4 is not evolving - not much product development in the last 2 years - as its an niche car. Below is my first attempt with track days -

The guy in front of you in the second one should have given you a point by a lot sooner than 6 minutes in! What happened at the end? Did you break something?
On the N20 development, you would think there would be a lot more of it since they put it in 328's, 528's and the X's... Kevin |

One of my alloygators came off (https://www.alloygator.com/) they protect the alloys from wife kerbing the car.
Yes - He should have let me pass an lot quicker On the JB4 in an Z4 e89 & X1 E84 are E series cars, and the canbus is different in F series cars. This may be an normally with JB4 - but I would advise you to clarify - before purchase As I know EWG there is no solution for the E89/E84 - with the JB4 - but the is for the F series of cars
