I am pretty sure that is just a reflection Marcus - it'll likely be even more impressive after you turn it on.

I am a huge fan of LG brand as a whole. This is actually my first Sony TV purchase since my old school silver bravia tube TV back in the late 90s!
The newer Bravia line of TVs have become quite respected and desirable over the past few years. Specifically their main processor chips known as XR have been very highly regarded for overall PQ. I strongly considered LG C1 77in OLED.I scoured the internet and YouTube reviews and comparisons.
It really came down to Samsung, LG and Sony. I then insisted on having Dolby Vision and Atmos standard. That ruled out Samsung. I then decided against OLED for fear of potential of image burn in. Especially on static images. I watch lot's of ESPN and yes, CNN. They both have those permanent, scrolling, bright banners at the bottom that are notorious for burn in or ghosting. My eyes and vision are quite sensetive. I still see in 20/20. I did not one to risk seeing anything like that while watching a movie(s) with black bars and faint images at the bottom.
The room this TV in can get bright (advantage LED) and very dark.
II have since self calibrated this Sony and it is stunning. Especially with 4K HDR10 content! But even 1080 like tonight's Thursday Night Football is incredible.
I definitely wanted 80in and up since I already had a 80" full array LED 1080p for over 6 years. Lastly, I grabbed this on a Cyber Monday deal that I could not pass up.

A silly question really. Couldn't you watch equal amounts of Foxnews to counter the ghost burn in from CNN?

Here is a snapshot of the TV at night in our family room. The content is from my Firestick 4K Max. Note details of the displayed image on the bottom are from the Sony display banner.

Neat fact for those that might not know. LG Display is the only company that actually manufactures OLED displays. The other companies buy LG displays and add their own bits to it. Anyway, carry on.

Not according to Wikipedia...? Or am I missing something - Sony is listed as a manufacturer of OLED Panels:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._manufacturers

[edit] - I think you are correct and Wikipedia is wrong.....

I think that Wiki entry is wrong. I'm pretty certain LG Display is the only one that actually manufacturers the OLED panels. All the rest including Sony procure the panels from LG Display and add their own touch to it if you will. To be clear, I'm referring to televisions, not small devices.

Just did a quick search and found this for example:

"All Sony OLED tv's get their panels from LG Displays which is a LG company. But Sony uses its own processor and hardware to create the picture."

Same can be said about some of the other TV manufacturers. I worked with a guy from South Korea who had business with LG Display and told me that quite a long time ago.

ADDED NOTE: This is the problem with Wikipedia. Anyone can add whatever they want on their site so there has to be a lot of checking and confirming but who the hell is gonna do that? BTW, Wiki always requests money from me since I use their website occasionally. Like I said in an earlier thread, fuck that. I'm especially not paying for something that often times has incorrect information posted.

I preferred Samsung back in the Xbox/Xbox 360 days due to their partnership (or at least that's how I interpreted it) but also owned Panasonic and Sharp sets before ever giving Sony a shot. Finally got a 55" Sony and it's been such a great TV over the last 5 or so years that we recently got a 65" Bravia for upstairs. Owned Samsung monitors as well, but replaced everything with either LG IPS or LG VA's, so we should be good for a while. Now the only Samsung screen I own is a S21

Yeah I've owned a couple of Sharp Aquos LCD TVs in the past. Also had a Toshiba set. They were okay but I always came back to Bravia sets. Goes all the way back to when I lived in JP and their CRT sets even.

I just can't do Samsung for whatever reason. Not even a phone hence my new Pixel 6 Pro. I love it.

The Pixel 6 Pro is really nice. I had a Galaxy Nexus (developed by Google and Samsung) which I loved for whatever reason prior to getting a Galaxy S7. After over 5 years with the S7 I finally parted ways with it for a S21 on Verizon's Thanksgiving week deal as an even trade. I was pretty skeptical that I would actually receive $800 for an old S7, even though they said I would, yet was glad to see this message come through on Wednesday. While I'm sure it's not much different in size, I really went with the plain S21 due to it being on the smaller side.

Agreed.
So you got an S21 for $800 with the trade-in of your S7 or they gave you $800 credit towards a new S21? Sorry, I got confused there.

What I'm pleased about is the fact the Pixel 6 Pro is a relative bargain at $899 (128GB). Compared to the S21 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro (or whatever it's called), it's a steal IMHO. I came from an older Pixel 3 which was a great phone and much smaller. They gave me a $600 credit for a trade-in which surprised me. $300 out of pocket ain't bad at all.

It took me a while to get used to this monster sized phone but I like it now. Camera is phenomenal. I got used to having a more pure Android experience w/o all the crap that most manufactures force into their phones, including Samsung. Some features are exclusive to the Pixel which I like.

Magic Eraser feature is pretty cool.
