Oil level in Bimmer Link

Hello All,

Can anyone assist with what the Oil Level in BimmerLink should say? my 2.5 E89 says 125. But I have no idea what that represents.

Cheers
J

There isn’t any letters after the 125? The link below may be helpful. I’ll check my Z later today and will check the oil level with Bimmerlink to see what it says.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to check the oil level with Bimmerlink. I didn’t drive my Z last weekend but took it for a short drive today and it said my oil level is 85. I didn’t wait to get the engine warmed up though, so I’ll check it again tomorrow.

That said it would be nice if the indicated value was percentage to full, etc…. So for me 85 would be 85% full. I’m going to do some research as I’m curious.

Yeah wow. Interestingly yesterday on the way home, it also read 85.

Let me know what you find.

An update with no answers, yet.

I did email email info@bimmerlink.app and they replied a day later from support@sgsoftware.io and said to use the "Support Request" function in the app settings. I did that and haven't heard back. It's been 4-5 days.

If I don't receive a reply, I'll try emailing again.

For those of you who don't know what we are seeing in BimmerLink, here is a screen shot. Everything has a measurement value other than the oil level.

I finally heard back from the Bimmerlink folks. Their answer was less than inspiring.

“ Dear Customer,

This value is measured in mm in most cases.

Measured in mm? In most cases? I assume mm = millimeters.

I did send a response inquiring about mm, and this was their response:

Hi William,

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, I have no further information on why BMW decided to return this value in this specific unit. We can only display what the control unit is returning to us.

So maybe this is an e89 issue?

Hmmm... Well mine sits at 85 all the time. I did have one warning flash up and it displayed 12, but I think it was a glitch.
