Now have to hope for Goff or Paxton.

The Yorks, as of now, are horrible owners who only got it right when the best option was basically up the road and they needed a stadium.

I hate what they have done since they took over the team. There is nothing worse than rooting for a team that has ownership who don't have a clue.

This team is right back to where they were when Erickson/Nolan/Singletary roamed the sideline.

Vernon Davis traded to the Broncos (for future picks, no players) and Kap is apparently taking the fall/blame for the team's failures this year.

Word is that the Niners are benching Kap this coming Sunday vs the Falcons and the talking heads are saying that it's likely that they'll release him so they don't have to pay him the $14.3M he's due next year. See the news here.

Yeah that will help. Maybe owners can turn them into a hockey team too

in hindsight, Winston would have been a bad fit.... dungeness crab season now at risk due to toxic algae outbreak! I think Winston's contract is heavily incentives based paid out in crabs...

I think time will tell whether building the stadium in Santa Clara was such a great idea for the TEAM or not. The Yorks were dead set on building that stadium and refused to work w/the City in order to build one there. But, I think that had more to do BUSINESS than the good of the team and/or the fan base.

The team has always been identified with San Francisco but, as a native San Franciscan, I do not identify w/the team any more, especially since it's run by owners from Ohio and is located in Silicon Valley over 40 miles away from the City. Frankly, I'd prefer it if they'd complete the split by renaming the team the Santa Clara or Silicon Valley Forty Niners, so that San Francisco won't have to be associated with the mess they've made of the team in any way anymore.

Some local businessmen saved the Giants from being sold and moving from the City. Perhaps there are some other local businessmen in the City who might be interested in trying to save the Niners in a similar way. We lifelong 49er fans can only hope.

building a privately financed stadium is never an indication of anything. It's an excercise in expected returns over an assumed peroid of time. Given the low interest rates for borrowing, local business support (Levi's, SAP, etc.), and deep pockets of current owners, I can see how it financially makes a lot of sense to build your own. (Same can't be said about a privately financed stadium in say smaller MSAs such as Denver, St. Louis, Kansas City or San Diego.)

Needless to say, a privately financed stadium allows the owner to collect the vast % of event revenue and without the city holding leverage if/when the team ever decide to leave.

Given the fan base support and the near monopoly over this base in the bay area, I would have been surprised if the organization elected for a publicly financed stadium.

This year, I often read comments from fans who are so disgusted by the team that they refuse to "support" the team by going to the game. Well if they actually put their money where their mouth is, then don't even watch the game on TV. Don't watch the local 49ers pregame/postgame shows. Don't buy fan gear, heck don't even go to the stadium area on game day to support the local merchants. If this actually happens enmass, then the TV ratings system would catch up on it in 1 to 2 years. A complete boycott of the system is near impossible, b/c fans just can't resist watching even garbage for 3 hours every Sunday, and due to the NFL TV revenue sharing agreement. So even if 49er fans don't watch, if the league itself is increasing viewership, then Jed York still gets paid the same or more each year. Last year each team got about $225M.

Never lived in San Fransisco so I can't comment on local feelings about moving to Santa Clara. I will say the info I heard was SF wasn't offering a realistic stadium plan or financing. I think they should have just rebuilt on the current Candlestick site and played at Stanford or Cal for two years like Minnesota is doing.

Also being from NJ, I am quite used to teams being called NY and playing in NJ.

At this point is everyone agreed that it's best for Carlos Hyde to be placed on IR and get ready for next season.

Also as the 49ers crash land into a top 5 pick, it's just our luck that there is no consensus top QB coming out this year. It's 2005 all over again. A prolific QB from a lower tier D-1 school who has mostly played against poor competition and a flawed QB from Cali who the niners will be afraid to draft.

Yes, but now we will see how they do against a real defense. I have a feeling the defense of Seattle won't be as easy as Atlanta's.

Anyone else hoping the 49ers lose out?

Well that's that. Tomsula out and as his going away present a meaningless win that pushes the 49ers from 5th to 7th in this years draft. Could have been #3 if Gould and Zeurline made their game winning kicks.

Oh and this lovely tweet from Jim Harbaugh

"Do not be deceived. You reap what you sow."

and the mic drops.

So which person would be the best fit for HC in SF? Looks like Kelly, Shanahan, Holmgren and Sean Payton could be of interest. My vote would be for either Shanahan or Payton. Or Peyton Manning as HC ().

First off..dig up Al Davis and put him in owners chair..think better decisions could be made. Next..let Dwight Clark be gm. Recruit Montana for head coach. And toss that guy from the Browns un as QB. There..better team.

Not excited at all by Chip Kelly HC chatter. It is too soon from his Eagles debacle to let him come in. He fails at the most basic level which is relating to the players he coaches. Since he proved too rigid to work with different personalities the last 3 years, I don't expect that to change so soon.

Anyone else that has been mentioned so far is acceptable to me.
