My theory is the cuff can't compress my arms so can't get accurate reading so high BP isn't a thing

I wonder if you just need a stronger cuff My arms are toothpicks compared to yours.

Mine will squeeze so tight it hurts and it won’t release for a long time! The way they do it at the Doc’s office takes only a few seconds. Mine at home takes up to 45 seconds. Not sure if that’s right or not.

I have a large cuff but get weird readings at times. Doctors usually about 130/80 so not worried

Probably for the weekly high score at a nearby emergency room! Seriously, get thee to a medical professional...stat...before you wind up a crippled lump like me from heart failure!

ALL automatic BP machines (including the ones in the hospital) have problems picking up the pulse when you have an abnormal rhythm or weak pulse from heart failure. They severely over-shoot the pressure on the inflate (sometimes over 200 PSI), and then listen on the longer deflate to get the start/stop pulse measurements.

Every doctor's office that I visit uses a manual cuff and stethoscope. Even the nurses were having a problem hearing my pulse for a year or so after my last hospital stay. FWIW, all of my BP machines are reliable now that my ticker has recovered a little function.

On a side note, my DW has our elderly neighbor's ReliOn BP machine here today for a battery change. It over-shot to 155 on the inflate, and measured 112/78 on the deflate which seems plausible at this time of day. Never used that brand before.....

What do you mean over shot to 155? I just took mine. It inflated to 224 before releasing.

You’re gonna raise my stress!! Lol

No reason to stress! Maybe I should have said ONLY overshot to 155, which really isn't bad compared with what these machines did when my ticker was all messed up. Back then, the hospital ones inflated to 200+, and my home one would so the same and also frequently either show the shaky/movement icon or just an E for error because it couldn't hear the pulse on the deflate cycle.

Try different cuff tightnesses, and confirm that the hose connector is over the artery and facing the correct direction. Also make sure that you are sitting absolutely still the entire time, and that the hose isn't bouncing around. Any movement gets detected as a false pulse through the hose.....

You’re still not helping! “Only over shot to 155”

I’m teasing. I have to distract myself when doing it every morning so I’m usually scrolling on here or Instagram to ease the pain. It squeezes so tight I can feel my heart beating out of my chest if I don’t have a distraction.

It’s not as bad as the blood pressure cuff in the ambulance last year. That one, I was in tears how tight it was.

Is it supposed to be the same? Y’all are stressing me out now lol

For the record, I’d prefer a marble coffin

Omg: Google says it’s should be “about the same” my leg and arm readings are significantly different. Couple that with I’m positive for S4 sounds in my heart. Just fucking great
