Z4 E89 - Upgraded the standard steering wheel to the M-Sports steering weel

I didn't really like the standard steering wheel of my Z4 E89 sDrive28i, so I ordered the M-Sports steering wheel and replaced it.

The part I ordered is 32307842925 - this is only the M-Sports heated steering wheel and not the media controls or airbag, I re-used those from the standard steering wheel.

Procedure:

- Disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes just to be sure.
- Touch some sort of grounding so you're not static-charged.
- Use a small screwdriver to disconnect the Airbag.
- Use the plastic wedge tools from an iFixit kit to pry loose the cables.
- Unscrew the media controls, remove them from the standard steering wheel and screw them in place on the M-Sports steering wheel.
- Use the same wedge tool to route all the cables back in their place.
- Set the Torque Wrench to 62,5nm and fix the bolt on the steering wheel
- Put the airbag back
- Connect the battery again, started car and 0 error messages

Here's my video on retrofitting cruise control and in it I show you all you need to do to swap the wheel over including the airbag removal.
As long as you don't disturb the slip ring then you wont need any coding in any way

You're a brave man. Congratulations! Very cool upgrade, and that last picture is a classic. You owe her (him?) a ride!

I need to do a paddle upgrade on my '11 35is. I have the early originals, which are a nightmare. I've stopped using them after damn near over-running the redline, twice. Apparently BMW realized this and changed them quickly, but I'm stuck. Oh well, I like the stick better.
