IMO a design should not have to be "explained". it should speak for itself.

i think it does speak for itself. i love this new z4. with this and the previous model, it was pretty simple to understand the design. its everything a roadster should be. its amazing

Ah I love watching these behind the scenes clips.. so much thought and design goes into the cars in addition to the actual awesome engineering. Thumbs up to BMW and new Z4!

I agree it looks good and is evolutionary. but read the thread title. ever since Bangle and the e46 BMW feels it has to explain the design. probably just left over baggage from the Bangle butt era.

It's about explaining the design. But more about explaining the creative process behind the design. What designers felt when designing a car. Where they got all the inspirations. What's the story behind the lines. Etc.

So the customer or general public get a more insight into the whole design process. And to be introduced with the human note of the design: to meet designers & their feelings. Kind a "Behind the Scenes" series ...

I really love that bmw gives us a view behind the scenes to know how our Zs are designed and made. I for one would have never imagined that the designers use tape on a wall to help get the initial lines of the car down and then sit down together with giant clay models of the car. These are all things i'm learning because of BMWs approach to letting us in on their world. Next I hope they give us a virtual factory tour of where the Z is built!
