Idle dips

Hi, I drive the 23i (manual). The car idles aright but every now and then when I come to a stop the car nearly stalls under 500rpm and then bounces back to 700-800rpm engine hot or cold, as of recent it also seems a bit down on power although it's been a while since I last hooned it. Told my mechanic to check the maf sensor but he said it looked alright, he reckoned could be the fuel filter, but apparently these cars came with lifetime fuel filter. Car has 62k miles. Any help or pointers much appreciated.

No. But there isn't any lights on the dash at all. Few days after though I got codes 29E0 and 29E1 which are fuel mixture control, I cleared them and it's been over a week and they haven't appeared again

And you don't think those codes might have something to do with your wonky idle???

Get obd checked see what O2 sensors are doing.
To check the MAF sensor i think you can unplug and the system goes into a back up mode, see if it runs smoother.
Look on youtube for similar test procedure.
