Climate control button removal/replacement

I have purchased the climate control fan buttons for my 2009 z4 e89, but cannot find any instructions or youtube for removing and replacing the buttons. They do not seem to simply pop on and off. Any help would be appreciated.

AC control panel buttons

Unfortunately, the youtube does not deal with removing/replacing the buttons on the ac control panel. The button get worn from touching and need replacing, particularly the two fan buttons. The chrome ring around the controls seem to prevent simply popping out the old and popping in the new. Has anyone replaced these worn buttons? If so, how did you do it? I do not find any youtubes or written instructions on how to replace the buttons.

Wasn't aware you can get replacement individual buttons for the air-con control panel, I thought it's a full replacement only. Which will explain as to why nobody has made a specific video on it.

Climate control button

Hi Dave... Yes, the replacement buttons for the climate control for the e89 are available. They are very resonably priced as well. This is the link on Amazon for one available at that location.

Unfortunately, there are no instruction. It just says they are easy to install. It appears that I will need to remove the dash panel, disconnect the electrical connection to the control unit, remove the control unit from the panel, figure out how to remove the chrome ring from the control unit, and then I should be able to remove/replace the button. Doesn't sound "easy to install" to me!

Ahhh, I see, hadn't seen them before so can't have been out long.

Full set...

I suppose it depends how many you "need" to replace, as you could leaver against another damaged one to start the ball rolling and work from there.
Alas mine are perfect so I don't have a need to make another video, unless someone wants to donate a scruffy looking panel for me to film
