Software Update Killed Exhaust Sound?

I recently had my first scheduled maintenance on my 2011 35is.
The oil was changed and there was a software update.
The car seems to great in terms of power and handling, but the exhaust has been tamed! Lost is the nice pop between gears and new is a low gurgle when idling. I've driven it hard all weekend hoping that might spring it back to life, but not yet.
There was a post a while back that mentioned the same issue (http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=402540) and the idea seemed to be it takes a while to get the old sounds back. Any one experience that?
Thanks.

First post by the way, and you all have been a big help with insights and questions. Thanks for that too.

Time to do the exhaust mods. Super easy on z4! Need to buy 1 1/8"rubber vacuum hose cap. You can find them just about anywhere. Just above the right exhaust tip is the exhaust valve. Remove the s-shaped hose and put a cap on the end of the hose that remains.

Yes the new update also reprogrammed the ecu. The recall that was performed was to reduce the speed you can raise and lower the top at.

Thanks for the suggestion on the exhaust mod.
After reading on it - the "golf tee mod" just to make sure...
I am removing this "S" tube at the place indicated in the photo.. right?
And then plugging the tube.
Much appreciated. I'll see if that helps the growl come back.
