Roof issue - closing and opening error A6A4

Hey All

I am hoping someone has had this experience and has some advice on how to resolve. I have bought a 2010 E89 3.0 and mechanically, the car is really in good conditon. There are some cosmetic bits that need resolving.

What has come up recently is the roof though and hoping someone can help
The roof goes up and down perfectly fine. Maybe a slight hesitation when the boot is at its lowest point just before it is pulled into a fully closed position.

But then as the windows come up in either an open or closed position, they stop and start intermittently whilst the car bongs and the red roof warning light comes up with the error message " roof not securly latched". It's literally that final stage of opening and closing.

When driving, this message also crops up intermittently.

I have plugged this up to bimmerlink to see the codes and have attached an image of the error. It's an A6A4 error code.

Any help is extremely appreciated. I have ordered the salmon relays just as a precaution and kinda know this won't solve this specific issue.

I think that error code is associated with trying to operate the roof outside of its permitted speed range..if it is it’s stored just for reference ..

RobbiZ4 or others may advise..

Have you got a decent battery..ie new?

The boot lid does close slowly at the end of the stowing program..

Just on the error, we cleared this error and then when we raised or lowered the roof, the error came back on. The engine was running and the car was stationary when we lowered and raised the roof.

RobbiZ4, the guide is brilliant, thank you!

Coincidently, with the first point you raised about the battery, my neighbour who has bimmerlink did a battery test and he said it was at 60% efficiency. So first stop is battery replacement.

Will work through the list over the year. Thanks very much. This is so helpful.
