That's what it seems like. I followed the instructions and pulled the latch mechanism out, to see the broken latch piece can be replaced quite easily.
I'll just have to be patient, and see if I can source one from a totaled car as soon as one pops up. |

I had the same issue with that door.
It took a lot of work and I broke the latch, but I got it open. I went to the hardware store and got a door magnet and glued it into the latch, the magnet bar was glued to the top of the frame. It works perfectly. |
