[E89 35i] ISTA/INPA rear brake service position
Hi guys,
i´m going to help a fried to change his rear brakes this thursday. We need to set the electrical rear brake to the service position. I´m already working with F-models, the ENET cable and ISTA but never had a E-model. I already have the MaxDiag2 USB cable but need some help. What and how do i need to do in ISTA to set the rear brakes to service position? What do i need to do after we changed the discs and pads? Thanks for your help! kind regards Michael |

You can use a service tool/scanner to retract the service brake. Or you can remove the electric motor and use a torx bit to turn the screw drive and manually retract the service brake plunger. Once the plunger and piston is retracted replace the pads reassemble everything then activate the braking brake to reset the plunger. That’s all there is to it.
You Tube has some videos that can really help you out. |

Bavauto has a diy on manually retracting the e brake. I have a foxwell scanner that does this. Carly says they do it too, but it doesn't work on our model.
