Carvana?

I gotta ask...

Would any of you buy a car on line (while binge-watching your favorite TV show in your PJs) and then actually go to a "car vending machine" and take delivery of it?

I would do it. Caravana actually has pretty solid ratings/reviews. just had a friend buy a lexus ct200 from carvana and took delivery from the vending machine (so his 6-yr old son could see it in action). he was a little unhappy with some road rash on the front bumper, called to complain, and carvana gave him an $800 credit/refund to go have the bumper repainted.

I probably wouldn't, but I don't think I'm in their target market. The vending machine part is mostly a gimmick.

Plus the company is hemmoraging money, so I'm not sure it'll be around long term.

I did and would do it again. I bought my 2013 135i from carvana. Had absolutely no problems and the price was very competitive. If you do have any issues, they are very responsive in working the issues out. Much better than most other dealerships or used car places.

Don’t see why not if the price is competitive. Frankly, my distrust and dissatisfaction with traditional dealerships is so low at this point, anyone else would be hard pressed to do worse.

Agreed. Dealer networks, especially AutoNation, are awful. Their ridiculous legal challenges to Tesla (and Saturn before) should be all anyone needs to know about their actual motives. Anyone that's ever had to deal with the asinine four square thing knows what's up.

A friend bought her last car from them and is happy with the experience. I try to do a good bit of research when looking to make a large purchase so I’d be open to it.

The pictures on their website are very extensive... i wouldn't have an issue ordering from them and getting it delivered.

Ok but can you test drive or like return it if you don't like driving it?

Yeah but what if you don't like driving it? Do you have like a 30 days return period or something?

From their website:

There are a few limits surrounding our 7-day Money Back Guarantee. The first day of your test-own period starts on the day that you receive the vehicle. If you decide to return your vehicle, please let us know prior to 5 p.m. EST on the 7th calendar day after receiving it. We will make arrangements with you to coordinate the return at that time. Additionally, you can drive the vehicle up to 400 miles during your 7-day test-own period. You can still return the car if it’s driven over 400 miles; however, for every additional mile after the 400-mile limit, we will charge you a fee of $1.00 per mile. If you choose to exchange, you can receive up to three vehicles. However, if you accept the third vehicle, you will forego the third 7 Day Money Back guarantee and will not be able to return the car. Please note, we cannot accept a return where the car has been modified, damaged, or altered from its original condition when we delivered it to you. We also cannot accept a return if the car has been in an accident or has had a lien or other encumbrance put on the vehicle (other than the retail installment contract you signed with Carvana).

I know a couple of people who have used the vending machine in Nashville. In general, Carvana seems to get the same review as Carmax. You are not going to get a stellar deal and you are not going to get a cream puff car, however, you are not going to get screwed on the deal or get a lemon either.

For those who don't mind paying a fair price, but not a great one, and getting a good, but not great car, in exchange for little to no hassle and an easy transaction - then it is worth perusing.

For others, it would be a bad choice.

No, but I'd love to hang around the vending machine just to see it dispense cars. I feel like this is the kind of thing I could just watch all day

Would you not test drive a similar model before buying?

The company itself is growing rapidly and doing very well. My wife manages their supply account through Advance Auto and they bought 1m in products(tires, etc) 3 years ago, 4 mil 2 years ago, and 8 mil this year

Their pics are extensive and their return policy is straightforward like carmax so yes I would if the deal is right of course.

So they are buying more worn out cars now?
