I've always like a GTI in any form - even owned an 84 GTI made in PA that was assembled so shoddily that they blamed me for a broken manual transmission and later they had to install a new steering column because it was assembled incorrectly. Glad it was a lightweight, no-frills car.
Fun as heck. But the remainder of the line ... and the parts that Audi pulled from it ... needed more sophistication. Call me skeptical of this one -- one of their better exteriors though. But I never thought they treated customers well after 2 VWs and 3 Audis. Never again. Don't trust VW.

VW (Porsche) owns 15% of Rimac.. they have access to good stuff to build a very fast EV.. this car seems been targeted to families that dont care about the performance.. 520km range is pretty good actually.. for that target group.. and Rimac.. that guy is like 30 years old but running a 10 year company that partnered with big brands in Croatia.. crazy..

In order to compete at a certain price point R&D compromises need to be made. ICE competitors in this segment are pretty slow as well.

I'm really disliking this trend of nearly eliminating center consoles. I get it that EVs don't need that space due to the lack of a transmission tunnel, but interiors just look so dorky and incomplete without them. For all the criticisms of the Model 3 interior, I'm glad they at least placed a center console.

I don't see much reason to get this over a Mach-E honestly.

Aside from if you're trying to be frugal with spending, I don't either.

To be honest, since the Mach-E and Ioniq5 have come out, this iD.4 doesn't look interesting anymore. The other two are much better looking with the Mach-E being more mainstream and cool, and the Ioniq5 being boxy and futuristic, this just has the dorky cab-forward MPV look that the Bolt has, and the range is pretty disappointing too, and the interior materials look to be sub-par. And it starts at $40k, which the other two also compete at.

Very interesting video, especially all of his issues with the charging network. Overall, not very impressed with this vehicle, seems like a swing and a miss from VW.

I'm honestly not sure what VW is trying to do here. They took an already pretty uncompetitive and lackluster vehicle and made it more expensive without it being competitive or lust-worthy still. Its specs are barely better than a base Mach-E despite this being VW's top model and likely more expensive.
