Mechanical sound when unlocking the car.

Hi guys/gals,

I am an avid reader of this forum, and thanks to all who have contributed so much in upgrading/fixing our cars.
Not sure if this was covered before, but when I unlock my car, i hear this mechanical sound which lasts for about 2 to 3 seconds and stops. I am not sure if this happens all the time, but I hear it mostly in my garage when I haven't driven the car for a few days. Does anyone know what it could be.
Thanks,
Jake.

My guess is, it's the fuel pump pressurizing the fuel system.

I hear it in mine also.

Is that sign of a bad fuel pump..I have read many people having issues with them.

You're describing normal vehicle operation. No fretting necessary

Many systems in the car go into sleep mode around 10m after shutting down the car or locking it. When unlocking all of these systems start to boot up to allow for quicker access. Sit in the car for a while after turning it off and you will hear a lot of noises once the car sits a bit

Completely different cars with completely different technology.

The sound you hear is the high pressure fuel pump being primed. Completely normal.
