Anyone have a car on the California Highway?
At last, I am able to start my own post!
My Z4 is on the California Highway headed to the Port of Brunswick, Georgia. Based on my ship tracking (www.marinetraffic.com) , it looks like the ship will arrive at the port by about 11:00 a.m. EST today (Thursday, February 12, 2015). Is anyone else tracking their car on this ship? My car is to be delivered to my dealer in Jacksonville, Florida about 45 miles south. I have read many of the threads regarding the steps and time line from the time the ship arrives at the port, going through Customs, through the vehicle processing center (VPC?), loaded on a truck, and then delivered to the dealer. There is a wide variation in time lines. I am sure much of the differences in times are due to any needed work on the car at the VPC. I am still not sure whether cars that were not purchased through the European delivery have to go through Customs. Does anyone know for sure? |

Pretty sure they go through customs. It can be a source of delay. Hope you don't have one.

I just wish it had not been raining...
Short story:
Ordered on 12/19/14 Deposit not cashed by dealer until 1/5/15 Assembly began on 1/15/15 Assembly complete on Friday, 1/16/15 Quality check complete on Monday, 1/19/15 Not loaded on to the ship "California Highway" until 1/28/15 California Highway stopped in Southampton first After ship was out of range to track on AIS, I began tracking on FleetMon (satellite) across the Atlantic Ocean. Ship came into AIS range near Baltimore on 2/9/15 Ship arrived at Port of Baltimore on 2/10/15 As ship left Baltimore I was able to get webcam shot of its departure As ship approached Port of Brunswick, Georgia I was able to see it pass by webcam. Ship arrived at Port of Brunswick on 2/12/15 Ship made it through customs and VPC on 2/13/15 and turned over to trucking company (Hansen and Adkins). Thankfully no damage to car on voyage. Trucking company delivered car to dealer on morning of 2/17/15 (in the rain ). I have much more detail on my tracking of the car if anyone is interested. |

My goodness that is one fine looking automobile, and it's still wrapped up and raining (sorry about the rain ).
Please take a few more once it's unwrapped and sunny out, only seen this color combo on the bmwusa.com builder, which isn't a good representation vs in person. CONGRATS!!!! |
