I know why BMW put flat black plastic on the M2, I'm just glad I was able to correct that and level it up.

To many this won't seem very cool, but to me it is. My late father's Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT. Taken mid 1970s. My father was a huge Alfa enthusiast, owning many of their iconic models from the 1960s and 70s. Burned into my conscious from an early age, my father's passion for cars was something I inherited.

It's very cool to me. My dad was a car guy and when I was a kid I never knew what he was going to bring home next. As a young kid, it was always GM products. As he got more successful, the cars kept getting nicer. It was great for prom night. I'd get a Cadillac to borrow for the big event. When I was off to college, he discovered Italian cars but he didn't have the money for the high-end performance models. His first was a Fiat 124 Sport Coupe. He fell in love with the high-revving engine, the handling, and getting back to manual transmission. I, too, fell in love and drove that car every time I got the chance. Over the next few years, he had Fiats, Alfas, and a Lancia.

Thanks for sharing your story and the photo of the Alfa. It's funny how our childhood can affect our car choices as adults.

I was humbled by the response I got from you guys to my posting a picture of my late father's Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT. In the same vein, my Dad's Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV. This picture taken in the early 1970s. Note the aftermarket 'Momo' alloy wheels, replacing the stock steel wheels. Somewhat of a performance car, back in the day. 130bhp using today's standards , giving 0-60mph in around 9 seconds, and a top speed north of 120mph!

Bucket list car for me. If I can't buy one I at least want to meet someone who will trust me enough to let me drive theirs with vigor.
