My first BMW
Hi guys,
After a few track days in Italy with one the most renowned schools (they use only BMW cars such as M3, 135, Z4, Minis...) I think I became addicted to the Bimmer lifestyle at some point that I had to buy one myself and being passionate about cars, engines, design and touring I found on the E89 Z4 the perfect fit to my style. I'm buying a 35is Silbertitanium with everything on it (just happened the dealer to have one full-optional ready), even though my favorite color is the Alpine Weiss. It will be ready in a couple of weeks since the time I'm writing and I have one question for you. As I said I'm a bit fanatic about design especially when it comes to balance the harmony of things, actually there's just one thing I don't like in my Z4 and that is the Carbon Silver finish of some of the interiors. Having the black leather seats and doors it doesn't look right to me the contrasting bright color of the dashboard and gear panels. I was looking for some darker finish, why they haven't thought of a Black Carbon finish? I've heard BMW has just released a new black finish but I was also wondering if anyone has ever tried a custom finish for the interior panels. Thanks for your help. |

Congrat on buying a new Zedie!!
You can always customize interior trim with CF vinyl like 3M di-noc. It is really durable and also easy to DIY.

I got the M pkg on my s30i, which comes standard with the silver carbon shadow trim. But like you Tatoz, I just didn't like the look. So I upgraded to the ivory white interior to get the anthracite wood trim. I always thought the black interior would look great with anthracite wood trim, and would have ordered that combo had it been available from the factory.
You could buy alternate trim pieces from a dealer and pop them in, but it gets expensive fast (I checked). However, all the trim pieces are modular and swappable, and you'd have a wide range of options to choose from. |

Anthricite Wood Trim and Black Leather
I agree that combination would likely look stellar. Any chance of getting this combination if you are having a 35is built from scratch? I have read the carbon aluminum trim gets hot in direct sunlight.
