retrofit for M sport steering wheel?

Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to retrofit the M sport steering wheel? I had a BMW rental while in the UK recently that had the M sport package and I love that thick cushy wheel!

Could the paddle shifters and air bag be refiited to the new wheel?

Yes you should be able to. Are the paddle shifters the same? I had mine done, but I don't have paddles. It cost me $600 I think. I only bought the wheel itself, M cap came with the wheel automatically for mine. The only difference is the thickness of the wheel and the little M badge cap. I kept the original aluminum trim for the left and right control buttons on the wheel and existing airbag:

yes the part # for the paddle shifters is the same (32306795939). I was going to do just like you did- keep the aluminum trim for the left and right oieces.

will check with circle bmw via email this week for compatability and price for parts and then compare price for install at my dealer and at local indy.

Looks good on yours!

flpnout I see you have the M sill plates. My plate on the passenger side broke for some reason and needs to be replaced. I'm thinking about replacing both with the M version. Can you tell me if these are the right part#s? 51478040124/51478040123? Also, I'm assuming the same plastic clips can be used?

MARCW - Yes, those are the correct part numbers for left and right M sill strips. They come with new clips attached.

You can get them here (I chose OEM catalog parts):

My Stealership asked for US$ 1750 including installation... Now talk about steeling...

Few points down the 'wish list" is that M wheel, I liked the grip...

I want to do the same, replace the current steering wheel in my E89 sDrive28i with the M-sport steering wheel. I have (yes, newer) a M-sport steering wheel in my 2019 F40, and I can't get over how thin the steering wheel in the E89 is.

Is there a guide available somewhere? I'm a bit reluctant to be working on the airbag...

Yeah straight forward.
Here's my video on retrofitting cruise control and in it I show you all you need to do to swap the wheel over including the airbag removal.
As long as you don't disturb the slip ring then you wont need any coding in any way

The slip ring is that thing what makes the buttons work on a rotating steering wheel?

This is the slip ring, just slide the steering wheel off, and then later back on taking note of the mark on the shaft

I found the m sport on ebay for under $500 and did the swap myself. There are great instructions for steering wheel removal in the forum. I really like the M sport padded leather better and larger diameter, plus going from push-pull to pull-pull paddles was so much better.

What size is the lock nut of the E89 Z4's steering wheel?
14?
It says M14X1,5 here: https://bimmercat.com/bmw/en/search/...8i/ECE/32_1886

And does anyone know how much nm/torque the nut needs to tighten again? 65,2 nm? Can't find that information on the interwebs...
