How are my old Z4 Friends?

Are you all getting ready for the top down weather?

I'll be driving with both driver and passengier door windows fully down to enjoy the sound of my new toy

Happy motoring to you all

Cheers,

Rolf-Dieter

PS. Nice to know my wheels are now forged and I don't have to panic going over little road imperfections. Do remember to here and then check your rear wheels for cracks and if the top is down for any lenght of time during a road trip add 4 pisig additional air pressure.

52 F here today, so the top will definitely come down. Just a teaser though.

Another 2 weeks, the 294's with sticky summer rubber will go on then we'll add some Dinan power. The wait is killing me!

Life is good in E89/SoCal land. Rain is tappering off for the year we got a good amount this season - officially ended our drought. Nearing the 1 yr anniversary pickup at the Welt - 10K miles, no HPFP problems, no 296 problems, no squeeks or rattles, no leaky boot. Guess I lucked out with a good build combination.

How's life over @ the M forums - good bunch of chaps over there?

Dropped the top today to cruise the switch backs! Beautiful weather and scenery.

Stopped by Concord BMW earlier in the day, spoke to my SA who stirred me away from getting an M3 and sticking with my Z4 after selling my 750LI two weeks ago. You'd think he'd want me to place an order. He claims the Z4 is best all around sports car for BMW with better gas mileage, lighter, and great torquey twin turbos.

How's the M3 working out for you?

Took the car out of winter hibernation today. Took the cover off, disconnected the battery tender and bled off the tire pressures. Car started right up after sitting 4 months. Drove around for about an hour, top down. Great to be reunited!

A bit of rain Friday morning, but then it cleared up and had a wonderful top down cruise up the the Nurburgring, long haul up the A61, but then turned off onto the back roads once we cleared Bad Kreuznach all the way to Nurburg. Hooked up with a nice couple from Northern California doing an ED on a 335d. Did a few laps with Sabine, spent 3 hours getting by pulse back down to normal and had dinner at the Pistonklause. Caught the opening round of the VLN Championship [BMW M3 GT2's first & second and the MB AMG SLS GT3 taking 3rd]. Then a nice afternoon cruise back down the A61, hitting 200 kph where allowed, but you do get a bit of buffeting at that speed - what a great way to start summer...

The M3 is under a BMW cover in the garage so the wife will not scratch her whilst I am away on a project I only drove her home from the dealer then covered her up. I cannot wait until my return to uncover, wash and take her for a drive.

Your SA is very right, the Z4 is a nice and economical car the engine has a lot of zip. I averaged (under normal driving) 11 Liter for 100 KM when I drove her gently home from the dealer. I know fuel consumption will be higher once I put the pedal to the metal

Happy Z4 Motoring,

Cheers, Rolf-Dieter

Must have been a great feeling

Cheers, Rolf-Dieter

siscobmw, Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I am sure the body shop will do a fine job. Then you can again enjoy the sunny Italian sky.

Cheers, Rolf-Dieter

My Z4 will turn 2 in late June, nearly 16,500 miles on it. The weather is cool but sunny this weekend but I still dropped the top coming home from a car show. I took it to the NC mountains two weeks ago. Had 70+ weather (20-25C) even at altitude so I dropped the top for 2+ hours of driving and hanging out with friends. I had the only Z4 in a sea of M3s.
