Vitality and location for classic content

I live on Bimmerpost for my newer cars (it’s fantastic for G-/F-chassis), but wrenching on my ’84 E30 I’ve noticed the Classic (pre-2005) section feels quieter. Meanwhile, some older-platform communities elsewhere seem… lively.

So I pulled a few quick data points as of today:
Bimmerpost = incredibly strong for modern platforms. The F30 forum alone shows ~1.98M threads and ~30.27M posts, which tells the story of where this network shines. There is a Bimmerpost Classic (Pre-2005) area, but it’s one cross-site subforum (shared across the network) rather than model-specific deep dives—handy, but maybe not “home base” for every classic niche.

Outside Bimmerpost, classic-focused spaces look very active:
• R3VLimited (E30-specific) – “General Discussion” alone lists ~30,719 topics / ~595,160 posts; “Members Rides” sits around 196k posts, with new posts hitting today. That’s a deep, ongoing E30 knowledge base.
• E46Fanatics (’99–’06) … Forum stats show ~796k threads and ~18M messages—still a juggernaut for that era.
• MyE28 (E28-specific) ~1.46M total posts, ~143k topics, and current-day activity—great for 5-series classics.
• S14.net (E30 M3) Classifieds alone show ~20,778 topics / ~129,179 posts with November 2025 updates—niche but very alive.
• Reddit r/E30 Publicly shows ~31k visitors and ~1.4k contributions per week; fast-moving Q&A and photo builds (god help you with the advice quality tho)

… what I wanna know is:
1. If you’re into pre-2005 cars (E30/E34/E36/E39/E46, etc.), where do you actually hang out and find answers fastest?
2. Would you rather see Bimmerpost spin up deeper model-specific classic subforums (E30, E34, E36…) or keep using the specialized communities above and cross-post highlights here?
Or I guess, 3. what would make this Classic section feel like home for you?

1. Youtube
2. Not really, there's enough E-chassis content that's been out there for years already.
3. It's fine as is IMO.

my $.02 as a fellow E30 enthusiast.

Thanks, I appreciate you getting back to me. I sense that’s the common sentiment. In previous years I might have compiled a list of the most helpful videos or something folks could turn to here, but with AI, folks can smart search for even obscure things so the juice of creating a directory, probably isn’t worth the squeeze.
