Searching for my own posts in a thread?

While I have been a member for a while, something I still have not mastered is searching. Say I want to go back and find a post that I made. I can never find a good way to do that, even if I know what thread it was in. I hit search and put in my username, exact or not, or even just search for the word, and nada. I get zero results.

So is there an easier way than just endlessly scrolling through page after page till I find it?

This is 100% what I try to do and get zero results - I try it with "exact name" checked and unchecked and I never get any results. I type my username all the way out or pick when it autofills for me - nada.

Here is a thread I have a ton of post in - shows me nothing. Maybe it's just me?!?!? I thought I was just bring an idiot.........

This is usually what I wind up doin - but then I have to look through pages and pages of listings and then click on each one to see if it's the one I wanted. I was hoping to be able to search right in the thread I knew it was in. Seems to be a function for this, but I thought it was broken. Maybe it's just for me it does not work.

Edit: Sorry I read right past your earlier reply. Do you mind trying in this thread? I am asking because I am wondering if it could be a forum-specific issue.

Search does not work in the off-topic section (even though there's a dedicated checkbox in the menu search).

BINGO - this was it guys - ok thank you. That was driving me crazy, but if it does not work in off topic - then that is my issue.

For once, it was not that I was just stupid.

Thank you for clearing that up............

If Google indexes OT then you should be able to do this with google probably just using your name and things like the site: and intitle: operators. Or their "custom search creator."
