Take another look at post #20. Every panel has been reworked with maybe the exception of the A pillars.

Subaru made more changes then Porsche did with the 981 to 982, but somehow the latter always seems to get a free pass.

I think people are expecting too much out of a car that costs under $30k. At the end of the day, for an enthusiast on a budget, its a great vehicle.

I know it can be hard to tell at first especially because it's an evolution of the first gen, but if you take enough time you will spot the differences.

At first a lot of people thought the roof and doors were carried over, but look closely and you will see that the body lines/creases have been smoothen down (roof) or completely taken away (top section of the door).

Just by looking at the pics I think the only items that were carried over are the windshield, door glass, A pillars, door handles, exhaust tips and shark fin antenna.

I see that now in #20. Not sure if I'm a fan of removing the body lines like that, though.

Frankly--I'd make the same comment about the 982

Just noticed, what's going on with the top of the rear fender? There's a strange wrinkle that carries over to the rear bumper panel.. looks odd.

I'm not sold on the front end or the gauge cluster, but depending on the specs of the new STi.........I'll probably pick one up early 2022. I think it will look great lowered over a set of TWS T-66Fs.

If the engine responds to mods like the first gen (loved my '15 BRZ and regret getting rid of it), a header and E85 should bump the 228 up to near 260. The 13.5:1 comp should really be able to take advantage of E85, the FA20 was 12.5:1.

The first gen was ridiculously easy to pull 100-150 lbs out without doing anything that impacted DD-ability. Lightweight battery, wheels, front brakes, rear seat delete was good for around 90 lbs on the first gen.

The new car is not a uniform design like the original. They took styling cues from different vehicles - RCF side, Civic/NSX tails, Porsche/Mazda front.

It does looks much better on videos posted by Youtubers from the Thermal launch event rather than Subaru press pics.
Looking forward to seeing the Toyota 86 version as it may have a better looking front.

So far I like the new Nissan Z400 design over this BRZ and the Supra.

I sold my SeriesBlue recently - the engine is just tiring after awhile but rest of the car is perfect.
I agree headers and a tune would help to get another 20-30hp and further improve low end torque.

The big bright spot on the new one is max torque is now at 3-4k compared to over 6k on old one. It should feel much faster. The engine also sounds very good in some of the vids i saw but that maybe fake noise inside.

I will be very tempted if they release an STI version.

Hopefully there is some headroom for gains with bolt-on power mods although I doubt this with that sky-high compression ratio.

I like this a lot. I also like the interior because it IS a throw back to the simplicity of 1990s design. The interior will age well compared to most other cars on the market. The exterior is refined and clean by today's standards. It looks like the child of a BRZ and Lexus ISF. I love the ISF.

With a very slight drop and meatier tires and slightly concave wheels, this car will look properly sexy like an M2.

The acceleration numbers should improve fairly significantly because of the large increase in torque and top end HP, while not adding any weight. Hopefully Subaru fixed the torque valley issues in the mid range.

The prior gen BRZ 6MT was 14.6-14.8@95-96mph car. The 2nd gen BRZ should in the lower 14s@98-100mph. Plenty fun of on the streets and for amateur racing where you want to keep expendable costs low. Essentially the hardtop option to a Miata and those wanting a bit more interior space. I don't understand Subaru's resistance to not use the FA20 turbo motor though.

Cost, weight, and the entire point of the vehicle. A turbo, with the requisite stronger driveline and bigger brakes and such would likely add 150 lbs to the car and push the price into the mid-upper 30s. Ceasing to be the "affordable" sports car it is now.

Not to mention as you creep up toward $40k competition gets much stiffer. Mustang, Camaro, 4 cyl Supra, Civic Type R.

For affordable sports cars you basically have two choices.

If you leave them NA and don't remove the revlimiter, they are just fine. The 2013 cars did have a valve spring recall.

Slap a turbo/SC on it, you will make good power for ????? but it's only a matter of time until one of the Papier-mâché rods ventilates the block or you wipe the #4 rod bearing.

The stock fuel system will support 275whp. And Edlebrock will give you a 3/36k warranty with their S/C system if you have it installed by an ASE-certified tech.

Car looks a lot better when it’s in motion. Honestly though, silver was a terrible color to release this car in. I’m sure the marketing people thought it was brilliant though because Americans hate color on their cars.

Despite the iffy looks I’m still really excited about this car.

Perhaps BMW should hire Subaru's marketing people. What a contrast to the embarrassing M3/4 marketing content.

I never experienced it. And I had my '15 from 3 miles to 38k miles.
