If you want to see a photo of what comes with it, ECS shows it.

Tough to beat for the money. A larger brake setup would be nice for track use, but for spirited street driving this works well.

I just ordered the M Performance upgrade (34112221445) from ebay for $1,238 but you have to order the rear rotors separately. They offer two different part numbers for the rear rotors (34206797598 or 34206797600). I can't figure out which is the correct rotor for the Z4 with M Performance kit. Has anyone installed the M Performance brake upgrade with the 370mm front rotors? What rear rotors did you install?

Has anyone installed the 324mm 35is rear brakes on a 35i (stock 300mm)? Wandering if it requires calipers and brackets or just brackets. I know it will require new rotors (324 vs 300).

Just a quick note to anyone replacing front brake lines with SS lines on an E89 Z4. When bleeding brakes you have to tap upper loop of new SS line to get trapped air from line. When on jack stands loop is above bleeder screw.

Upgraded the front brakes, finally.

Used M Sport brakes with Slotted/dimpled rotors on 325M 18" wheels. Used the combination shown in the thread;

rotors 34106797602 (340x30mm, slotted/drilled)
caliper right 34116799466, 2pot blue + ///M badge
caliper left 34116799465, 2pot blue + ///M badge

As advertised, plug and play, no issues.

This ONLY applies to those who have the E89 Z4 sDrive 35i (not the 35is) with 18" or 19" wheels

The E89 Z4 sDrive 35i stock rotors are 330X24 . The Z4 sDrive 35is stock rotors are 348X30

Also the calipers on the 35i vs the 35is are also not the same . In a whole nut shell the 35i got the 330i front brakes

The 6 piston BMW Performance BBK will be the "budget upgrade kit" for the 35i

Of course the brake pad sensor that comes with this BBK is not for the Z4 so you will need the OE or OEM brake pad sensor for the Z4

In addition we added SS lines, and went with the OEM 6 piston brake pads







I have advocated to see if ECS Tuning can put a kit together specifically for the 35i

Those with the 35is yes it would make sense to go with the F30 setup if not on a budget cause this BBK is not necessarily an upgrade for the 35is ie bigger calipers yes, but smaller rotors. The 6 piston BBK shown here is not compatible with a 348x30 rotor. We tested this today and it does not fit.

This is the same rig I'm running on my 35i. I got the 6-pot Brembo BMW front brake kit from Husker Auto Parts for $1,150 or so. I did front and rear SS lines from UUC for $120 (they were correct). In the rear I put Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors for $140, along with EBC yellowstuff pads for $75, giving a bit more bite to round out the setup.

The whole setup works well. I have about 3k miles on it.

Now here is something interesting but extremely expensive for the rear. You can get a set of rear E-big brakes and rotors by PBbrakes for the rear and color you like for the rear calipers with no logo option.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread. Newbie confusion: the setup described by Lurcher, BQ Tuning and fmorelli both point to sites that indicate these kits aren't compatible with a 2011 E89 35i.

Do I just ignore these warnings? What parts from the kit aren't compatible? Just the pad sensors?

The sensor is the only thing that is not compatible in the kit. You will have to get the original sensor. ECTuning just dont know or just dont care to know as it is a possible conflict of interesting with their other 6 piston Big Brake kits for the E89 Z4 35i(s)

I email ecstuning and showing them the proof the kit is plug and play on the E89 Z435i(s) but I guess they ignored it for a strategic sales purpose. My next post will show the reason why.

What's your budget and goal? I'd recommend looking in PB brakes which maintain the E-brake. I'm running 380mm all around, 8 pot front, 6 rear.

Good questions. My budget is closer to $2K and my goals are purely open lapping on a track but no head to head racing. I've made some engine upgrades but now it's time to address handling and braking. I tend to do things on a time and $$ increment. I liked fmorelli's setup because of the price and it puts most $$ up front but includes some bits for the rear without "braking" the bank, pun intended.

Also, I'm really not sure how or why a $2K+ 6 piston brake setup is so much better than a $1200 6 piston OEM setup so seems to me the BMW setup is the way to go. Any thoughts on this reasoning?
