So as you all know by now, my preference for spirits without any questions, is ultra premium sipping Rums. Followed by Cognac.
Here in Texas, Bourbon and Whiskey are the most popular. I'd say Tequila is certainly up there as well.
I keep a variety in my bar at all times with over 80 bottles on hand. I definitely keep some tried and true Bourbons and Scotch for my friends who only drink those. But recently, I've been exploring and tasting many more myself just to expand my own taste buds. My criteria for ANY thing I drink is it MUST be smooth if not ultra smooth. I also prefer sweet. Not sugary but a honey, or fruit note is preferred. Some appreciate the burn, heat, pepper, etc that Bourbon naturally brings.
Even the ones I have : Eagle Rare 10, Woodford Reserve, Basil Hayden, Maker's Mark and several different Crown Royal. Are all considered great options. Then I have Glenfiddich, Glen Moray, Dewars, The Glenlevit.
I can definitely say without question that Scotch is generally smoother than Bourbon/Whiskey. But, then there's the smokiness that I don't care for with Scotch.
All that being said, this very helpful young man at my local Specs who knows my tastes and has very similar tastes to mine, recommended a Bourbon that I've never heard of. Based on his recommendation alone, I bought 2 bottles of this.
I am very happy to report it is excellent! At $40 I consider it a great value. Let me know if you try it, what you think?

Sam Adams Wicked Hazy IPA. First real beer in about a month. Figured I needed to remind my liver what to do with alcohol.

Thumbs up

I have been seeing this in my social media feed and it looked and sounded interesting. Then I read really good reviews too. Unfortunately it is not available in Texas. Appears to be distributed out of California. So I decided to order a few bottles. My review coming soon...
Oh they threw in a free bar mat. Cool.

Whatever you do... Try to get your hands on a bottle of the Drop Tine 12 I posted above, that no one seems to acknowledge. It is by far the absolute best, smoothest Bourbon I've ever tasted in my life. Absolutely incredible!

Closest to me seems to be Madison, WI. and no shipping to Cali.
TXSTYLE is closer than that, and I wouldn't have to buy a whole bottle

Had a nice tequila flight the other night. Codigo Barrel strength is just really hard to beat for me.

Sweet. I'll keep my eye out for it, don't think we have that one locally.

I'm reintroducing my liver to Mr. Jameson this weekend. It's been well over a month since they last shook hands.

Has anyone tried the new Jameson Orange? Not sure I want to buy a bottle only to find out I don't like it.
