Stalking my 2013 Z4

Hi all!

Well for the past few days, my Bimmer's cargo ship, the California Highway, has been MIA so to speak. The CH made two ports and is enroute to the US. The last time I was able to track the CH, it was in the English Channel. I read on another post somewhere that there will be a portion of the English Channel where the ship is 'out of range' and I won't be able to track it. I gotta tell ya...
it's driving me insane!!

Hopefully all is well on the CH and it will come in way behind Hurricane Sandy and her aftermath! [praying for all those affected by this storm!]
The ship isn't scheduled to hit the US (Baltimore) until the
4th and then expected to reach my Bimmer's drop off point in Georgia on the
7th. This waiting sucks!!

How terribly frustrating, but hopefully you'll have your baby soon.

Just in case you don't already have this info, below are two links you can click on to keep up with your ship's progress. Keep in mind the arrow is from 3 days ago, but I'm sure they will have an update soon.

That is pretty cool, but I can see how frustrating it could be watching a vessel traveling the open Atlantic averaging 18kts.
Are you meeting it in Georgia? I picked up my sister's 328i there and drove it to San Antonio for her. That is how I got hooked on the Ultimate Driving Machine and went home and bought an M3. It will all be well worth the wait.

No, sadly I'll have to wait until it gets to my dealer. I wasn't aware of the different pick up options when we ordered.
How cool you did that for your sister and then fell in love! Haha.
I can't want to get the proverbial BMW SAG [silly ass grin]!!

Thanks for the info. That is how I've been tracking her - until about 3 days ago. Hopefully soon she'll pop back up on radar.

If you get that number, would you please pass it along? I started following my boat when it left Bimmerheaven August of '10, got hooked with the tracking, and now have 3 binders full of pics of the ship, the various ports around the world, passing thru Panama, arrival and departure data, etc., etc. Now I get pissed when it's out of range!!

We're in the same (physical and proverbial) boat. My family has been joking around that my car is somewhere at the bottom of the Atlantic... Come on California Highway!

My guess is that port operations may get backed up and there will likely be a shift in the stops that it'll make in the east coast.

Consider yourself lucky that the ship hasn't arrived in Baltimore yet. A friend's 3series (he had European delivery) just arrived a couple of days ago ... and of course the prep facility has been compromised by the storm. They gave him a 5series loaner while they figure out what's going on with the facilty in general and the car in particular ... he says they said he may get a brand new car, but of course has to start the wait all over!

I'm not sure the condition of Baltimore but my car doesn't get off til Brunswick, GA.
Wow, I feel ad for your friend! That's a total downer. Maybe the car survived and won't have to be rebuilt.
I hope he doesn't have a long wait.

Time line?

Hi,
I believe I can say we share very similar experience.
I just ordered a 2013 z4 as well (From NJ), and the tracking shows "Production Starts" last week.

Could you please share some more detailed time lines about the production--deliver--etc ?

Thanks very much!

I am in the same boat as the post above me. I just ordered my 2013 Z4 over the weekend and waiting for it to move to production. I got a Jet Black Exterior with the Coral Red Kansas Leather Interior with Brushed Aluminum Highlights. I wanted to keep it under 50, so I only added the heated front seats. The dealership told me I would be lucky to see it by Xmas

My BMW center is 25 miles NE of San Francisco. Does anyone know if they take it by ship to the West Coast or if they dump it off on the East Coast and then use a Semi?

So my Z4 entered production today with a tentative completion date of 11/13/12. This is the most antagonizing wait of my life...

Call 800-831-1117 (in the US) and then say Vehicle Production Status. Next, type in your production number. Voila!~ You should be given an estimate.

Unfortunately, no. Mine is being delivered 25 miles NE of San Francisco, and they told me 6-8 weeks from my order date. So, either a great Xmas present or a Happy New Year present. This wait is going to be intolerable lol.
