As I said, these numbers are STRICTLY highway cruise. Also, most of these numbers were achieved in Canada on 100 or 110 km/h (62 or 68 mph) roads.

Only 300 miles on my 2015 35is and averaging 19mpg, only about 50 miles of open highway travel so far at 70-75mph, mostly city or stop and go wile in sport mode to savor the sound of the engine and a number of full throttle launches just because I can.

Doesn't BMW have a break-in mileage recommendation?

I heard it is take it from the rotating floor on the Welt, to warm it up on local roads, drive it hard (but not too hard) on the autobahn using the full rev range and a variety of throttle positions, and the finish up the break in at the 'Ring or Spa

by the way, I am averaging 20mpg combined, with 80% highway driving in my 35i DCT

Just came back from Monterey for the Tudor races.

I was cruising roughly between 80-85 mph and the trip computer averaged at 24mpg.

OOPSIE

The sales rep didn't mention it and actually encouraged me to nail it during the test drive and real men don't read instructions

I have had a number of new cars and never followed any break in procedures other than don't abuse the car for the first few hundred miles and driven each of them for 150,000+ miles with no major problems.

I'm not really worried if I don't get the last 10th of a MPG or if I lose .1 sec in the quarter as I am not a track day star and I doubt a handful of 0-60's are going to have any effect anyway.

The manual states that you should not exceed the posted limit for the 1st 1200 miles so I just pretend I live in Germany not the US.

Hey guys, I would like to ask you that my 2014 z4 20i rated around 21-22 mpg daily drive (not aggressive drive, comfort mode) it seems too much for me. Could be any problem with my car and what could cause it? Thanks

Looks about right. Maybe a point higher than mine.

Are you stock?

I'm MHD stage 2 with K&N dropin intake and catless downpipe. The latter mods might've contributed for better fuel economy I believe.
I keep air pressure at recommended 34F 44R even though its not RFT.

actually, it is 12-13 lt/100km. We are not using "mpg" here in Cyprus. I've just realised that when I switch M/S and shift myself, current fuel consumption reduces also average however when I leave it automatic in comfort mode it starts increasing. It is my first sports car and I can not predict whether is it normal or not.

Honestly never heard of l/100km thanks for introducing it to me.

But yeah 12-13 l/100km is like 20-22 mpg which is very low for a 2 liter turbo...You should be at like 7-8 l/100km (35-40 mpg). Are you mixed highway/local driving?

How many miles are on the car?
Any weird smells/sounds/smoke?
What tires do you have on, can you confirm that the tire PSI is correct?
Is the car idling okay?

How did you get to that average? Just from what the car states? I would try calculating it yourself this week to be really sure.
