Gents,
my service guy is installing the Mr12volt DSP blue box right now and when powered, the optics through works, controls work - both stop working when disconnected from power but he cannot get through by choosing the cd-rom option. The screen just remains black. My car has: S672 CD Changer For 6 CDs S677 HiFi System Professional DSP S609 Navigation System Professional Based on which I though I was sorted and all would work out of the box. Any ideas? Dunno if this is a coding issue and I should tell him he can put it back together or if it is an issue with the unit. |

If you've got 672 then it should have worked straight away. As it hasn't then it may need some coding.
But before that just make sure that the two LVDS cables are the right way round. All relevant info is in my video |

Cheers Dave, it worked out at the end but apparently the manual from Mr12Volt is not really exhaustive of all possible iterations of how you can connect the unit (as there can apparently be more combinations of the car specs).
My technician told me that to troubleshoot he first tried only closed loop of the optical interface between the main head unit and possibly the Mr12Volt unit and once he managed to actually see Mr12Volt unit he in the list he had to fiddle with where to plug it in in the loop as it seemed like something else was blocking it, he managed and now all is working well. I must admit that the DSP version of the unit is awesome, the sound quality of music compared even to the original unit has improved by quite a bit even with the original speakers. |

haha agreed there, I was suspicious of that as well as it seems quite straight forward on your YT. Anyways I was charged as agreed so all good, sound is much better than retrofitted CC in my other car where I am using the aux. Thanks a lot for the tip!

Hoping for some clarification. I have the in-dash CD player. No CD player in the trunk or glove box. Which configuration do I need to use? I think #3? Thanks!

I am having trouble switching into the P2000 using the menu button. It does not switch automatically when selecting CD1. Pressing or holding menu only goes back a page in the BMW CIC menu. Any thoughts? Does my CD selection look correct in the photos? |

Now on the coding side, do you already have CDC Prep (672)?

Yes it can be coded in. 672 will need to be added to the CAS, NFRM, CIC and MEDIA, using the program NCSExpert which is part of the BMW Tools package

DavesZed Great! I have NCSexpert. Any good YouTube videos out there to show me how to do what you're referring to? Or can it be done with BimmerCode? I'm very much a coding novice. Thanks!

Link to the coding part of my iDrive retrofit video.... Basically follow the steps with inserting 672 into CAS, NFRM and CIC just as I did in the video but also add it to MEDIA. Now it may not need to be in MEDIA but better safe than sorry ![]() Where, at the start, I take the .trc file from KOMBI, it doesn't really matter where you take it from as we won't be using it, but it'll ping faults up and wont let you continue without those files being there, you could take it from CAS or MFRM, it wont matter ![]()

Love your videos.
New owner of a 2013 35i. I am going to add the Mr12V MMI box and front and rear cameras. Not much of a need to Android auto. The details seem pretty straight forward. I do not have the CDC or prep... however, when it comes to coding, I use the Protools app and have made the mod for the CCMM_CHANGER3=mp3_cdc. I do not want to need to turn off voice control. Is that the only coding change I need to make? any more modules I need to look at? |

Finally got around to doing the coding. No change. Still doesn't work unfortunately. I confirmed with an expert coder that coding was done correctly. I used to have the cell phone dock in the center console, which I removed. Did that go through the optical fiber? Could that have caused an issue? MRCW Did you get your Mr12volt system working? Sounds like our cars are the same model year and same configuration (no CDC or prep). |

Now this might be a daft thing for me to say, but...... If I press the Volume button it mutes the unit, if the unit is in Mute then Mr12volt won't show up and will display as per your photo above. If you now have 672 and you've done the CDMM then it should now be working. Does your phone see the box in Bluetooth?
