Rears are pointless in the 6 (8) speaker set-up and I've read of owners who have the full 16 speaker package and still aren't happy with the rears. So I'd go with your last statement and forget all about them.

Thanks Dave!

I’ll spend the money on the footwell speakers instead (and possibly a small amp).

No idea why they are so quiet. Realize that when you change speaker efficiency, every 3 decibels per watt of efficiency increase (i.e., 89db/w to 92db/w) is like doubling amplifier power.

After I installed the Bavsound Stage 1, I felt like I could really hear how mediocre the amplifier was ... slippery slope lol. The bimmertech amp is not cheap, but plug and play.

Or plug and play - twice.

This is the easiest and most customize-able solution you will find, just be sure to get the right wiring harness specifically for the z4. You will loose center channel connectivity though...

Does it actually lose the center channel? You get 8 channels, configured however you like - and as we know, the factory 676A system uses a channel for the center but gangs the mid-bass footwell speakers together on one channel instead of the appropriate two.
