Goodbye Toshiba

Ouch that's painful. I do not see them recovering from this. Moody's also cut credit rating to junk.

Not sure I've ever bought or owned anything by Toshiba.

I owned one Toshiba laptop. As it aged, the thing got so hot it literally started to melt the plastic housing. Pieces of plastic started to break off near the exhaust vent for the cooling fan because of the heat. Then the laptop just died.

A buddy of mine refuses to buy anything Toshiba after the company was caught selling highly sensitive technology to the Chinese.

I will say this, I had a Toshiba laptop and it was far better than any HP product that I have ever had... although that's not saying much.

I have had 4 hp pc's, a camera and 3 printers... i keep getting suckered into their sams club or whatever the store may be value specials... hp is disposable hardware at its finest, it was across the board garbage w extreme BIOS flaws.

There are a lot of good companies in high yield (aka "junk") that survive and even thrive and about 12% of the high yield universe is fallen angel paper. Call me when they hit CCC with negative watch.

Both Toshiba laptops I had got so hot that they shut down until one day they wouldn't power on at all...my mistake was giving them a second chance.

I had a Toshiba notebook, they fixed the hard drive two months after i got it, no problem.

4 or 6 months later, it started running hot and sometimes would shut down. I sent it in, one the customer reps calls me saying that they weren't going to fix it under warranty because i took it apart, going by the warranty void sticker.

I told her that's because they worked on it before, now i think they gave the runarounds bc they didn't have a fix for it.

I guess it was a good thing I got some use out of my Toshiba space heater. Because I also had a hard drive fail on this laptop less than a year into owning it. I wonder if they would have given me the run around if I had brought it in after the hard drive was replaced for the heat issues.

Sad to hear this...
Had a Toshiba laptop, no problems at all and just gave it away after 3 years to upgrade. Also had a big ass rear projection TV that we also gave away after 6 years due to upgrade again. Tweaked that thing like crazy and anybody who viewed it was wowed.

I currently purchased the HP laptop with intel quad PANTI-um. Lack of upgrade capability pisses me off.

I had to-shibal with AMD whatever it is, and it had some room to upgrade.
Quality of the laptop is about par, except HP might use better polymer casing?

Although it did not work out, at least Toshiba tried to compete on low end. Yes, their dvd player took a crap on my after 1yr, but it was cheap. I will take Toshiba cheap electronics over some unknown makers.

Toshiba laptops were good but not great, ibm/Lenovo held the title for a while back in the day. Apple owns the laptop space right now.

My Toshiba was an excellent laptop during its day but just cant handle serious workloads now. So I moved onto a spec'd out 17" MBP Retina.. first Apple laptop so it's taking me a bit to get use to.

I actually love their products! Recently bought an amazing 'back-lit keyboard laptop' that is blazingly fast with an aluminum case.
