Kai - thanks. I just returned from being out of down but the DPs were delivered yesterday. They look fantastic, very high quality, and I can't wait to have them installed, which should be tomorrow or at the latest, next week! These are going to lay down a little extra stealth power.

Car is scheduled for drop off Thursday. It took a while longer than I though to track down a good wrench in Austin with extensive BMW experience.

I drove the e89 yesterday and this car is already blazing fast - can't imagine how nice it will be with the improved DPs. BTW, the diameter of these AR DPs are huge - I should have taken the pictures with a reference piece of some sort sitting next to them.

I can neither confirm nor deny that my wife's e89 has the following performance modifications:

1) Stett FMIC;
2) Eisenmann Race Exhaust (2x90);
3) Stett charge pipe with dual diverters;
4) Michelin Pilot Super Sports; and
5) ESS Stage 1 Flash, with map for all above (I did not want Stage 2, I value our DCT).

Soon to add - AR DPs.

I sure would like a brake package for all 4 corners but at this point I realize it will never happen. I was hoping the new F30 M Brake kit would fit the e89, and it might. However, the dealer told me I will have to buy them to find out.

I am aware of your (possible ) mods, as many others over here, they have been discussed extensively after all.

I asked another thing, if you will get an update by ess incorporating the higher flow capabilities.

Let me explain (if Kai permits) : The reason you are getting the dp is to increase your exhaust gases flowing capacity and decrease the oem restriction.
The only reason to do this is not mainly to have your turbos operate more effortlessly (they are anyway at stage 1) but to ''effortlessly'' allow them to operate at higher boost pressure levels.
If this meets not your intentions stay with the oem ones, they are after all the only double walled and have a flex section which is even nicer.

Folks, if you just mount the dp you will probably notice a moderate higher performance above 4500-5000 rpm, I would say 7-10 hp, it will be nice but will have nothing to do with their potential.
Albeit if you pair them with the appropriate (and regarding this was my question) ecu tuning option of your choice (be it a piggypack or a reflash) you will be able to calculate in the new flowing parameters and thus in short operate safely at higher boost levels and slightly increased timing advance levels for sharper response, but this has to be remapped (or ''autotuned'' for that matter for some piggypacks). This will get you ''easily'' ~20hp more and operate much much more responsively.

AR are building highest quality products anyway (I have their occ myself) and it would be imo unfair to them to have some guy review ''I expected more gains out of their dp''.
Dp will best shine only with the appropriate map, which will be either way mandatory for guys that went the catless way.

BTW, the F30 4pot fronts were mounted on an E9x, in fact they were pnp, the E89 has the same front axle components as the E9x, they should be a direct fit, search on the e90forum for more.

THANK YOU for the question and explanation. I agree and appreciate the expertise you have offered on the issue. It is 100% my plan to have ESS prepare a new "map" for the car once the DPs are installed as your explanation, which was great, was my rough understanding already - i.e. install the DPs and have a custom flash prepared since the potential will not be fully realized with just the stock stage 1 tune.

Once that is all done, I will take a video with sound and upload it to this site (I think I am capable of this despite my technological idiocy).

I am not looking for raw power, believe it or not, just quicker response, smoothness, sound, and a little extra pull. Hell, the car already is wicked quick. With the current mods and the DCT, there are very few cars that can keep up with straight line performance. I have had countless mustangs, corvettes, camaros, porsches, etc. try to take out the little Z in a "responsible" display of acceleration to 70-80 mph. They are always disappointed. It would take a 911S to keep up or a Z06 or similar to come close to putting it in its place. I think the real 0-60 of this car is a lot closer to 4 seconds than it is to 5 seconds.

After having the car for almost 3 years and 25k miles, I never even engage in such displays of acceleration against other cars - I already know the likely outcome. Plus, we love the car even more than when we first picked her up.

Ok guys, I am keeping the pre-oder open until next friday 8/3/2012 at 6pm MST. After that there will be no more special pricing for the pre-order. So if you are thinking about getting a set get on it in the next week!

Definitely well worth it! Drove it last night without the tune and it already felt more responsive and agile. Can't wait to see what it does with a Cobb tune.

Thanks Kai!

Drew did you install yourself or have a shop do it. I can't get to mine for another couple of weeks as I am working on another car's front suspension. Thanks

The fit and finish are fantastic, had no problems installing it with a Milltek Cat-back. I ordered the downpipes with race cats (coated), no foul smell & the car didn't throw any codes either. Mine is a RHD.
