We can't have modern pistols in UK even for firing range, the closest we can have are something that look like from the film Pirates of the Carrabean lol

Indeed now lockdown has slackened off I'm at the firing range once a week usually Wednesday evenings, can't wait.
Usually buy 500 rounds at a time from my gun shop.

Lucky you for being able to get 500 at a time.. Finding 22LR here in the states is difficult. If you want it for less than 20 cents a round you can only get 100-200 rounds per day if you wait in line. If you want more you can buy it on line but I've seen auction prices as high as 50 cents. Sheesh.

I pay £45 for the 500 rounds from the shop.

That's about 12 cents a round so you're getting a very good price for the crazy times we're in. They don't sell small rifle primers at your gun shop do they? 😊

I always use Ammoseek or one of the other online search engines. Some ammo is starting to be back in stock and it looks like .22lr is available at about .20 a round.

https://ammoseek.com/ammo/22lr

Will ask next time I'm there. Looking online they're about £50 for a thousand, collection in person showing gun license..no mail order.

LOL and bringing primers into the USA requires a ATF license. Dept. Of Commerce license to send them out.

Hoping with the recent huge price increases, more buying limits, and people refusing to pay the scalpers price - we will see them hitting (and staying) on shelves again this summer. I doubt it, but I hope.

Is it just this or overall for goods in the States things have increased in price a lot?
I was in Miami on hols 5 years ago and things were dearer there then than here but then Miami is expensive anyway.

Back in 2019 they were as cheap as they had been for a long time as all the 2013 panic buying had petered out and may people were sitting on huge amounts. We had a good year in 2019, but were not even close to running at capacity.

March 2020 came and that all changed. Last year everyone was running at 100% as hard as you could and still going 2-3 months in the hole each month. We are close to 2 years total backlog now.

And now the perfect storm - housing is raging, shooting industry is raging, Ecars are raging, cars in general are raging and all industry is spooling up - all using copper. Copper crossed $5.50 this week. In my 30 years in the industry I don't remember $5.00 and it walked right past $5 like it was nothing and is still predicted to climb. We just took a 2%-5% increase and will have to take another if this continues. Terrible timing.

So a lot of these extra increases are due to raw material costs. But the 20% increase in primers is materials AND them trying to slow the demand. The world is not shooting 50 times as much - they are just buying 50 times as much. Once they get it to slow a little and people see product on the shelf - they will stop buying everything in sight and the world will start walking back towards a normal supply chain.

Until then - we are all F'ed.

for work, all the time.

i kept all my old ones when work replaced them for home use. i never wear them. never plan on going into someplace where i know i will need them.

ok, i take that back.
i wear it if i do facebook marketplace deals.

that's probably the only time.
i have rifle spec plate armor as well. don't wear that at home. we issue them at work and we don't wear those either unless we have time to suit up which is rare.

I do. Only wear them occasionally at the range. Don't need them for work, hopefully never need them for my normal life, but I have them just in case.

They are part of my "oh, shit!" gear set-up that I will probably never have to use.

Gun and ammo prices went high when the riots started a year ago. Now we have a gun-unfriendly president so it has sustained the high demand. Ammo prices are improving a little and gun availability as well. Last Christmas you couldn't find an AR anywhere, now they're selling for $700. I guess I should be thankful that I can buy and shoot pretty much any caliber and quit griping that I can't get it for 20 cents per round anymore.

1. Go to the CCi website and make an account.

https://www.cci-ammunition.com

2. Search for .22 LR availability as often as you can. I usually search about every hour.

3. Right now, Velocitor is available, but I have scored on Quiet-22, Standard, and Velocitor.

4. Be patient and don't give up.

Thanks,
Great info. Unfortunately for me 22 LR is more of a curiosity. My stupidity in what calibers to add knows no bounds. My last two were 300BLK and 6.5 Creedmoor. Thus now I'm on Ammo seek trying to catch anything under $1 & $2 respectively, or find small or large rifle primers at less than 20 cents a piece. And now I can hear Five Seven calling my name. 😊
