2011 Z4 leather on nav screen
The leather is coming up on my nav screen dash cover and I'm wondering if the cover itself can be removed for repair without taking the whole screen out. If not, is there a tutorial anywhere to show how to remove the screen and then the cover? TIA

Took me awhile, but here's a pic of my dash cover.

The "lid" is removable but I'm not sure if you need to take the whole screen out to do this.
This link will show you how to remove it safely.... https://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1148144 Once the large dash section is off you can then remove the centre vents that allows you access to the front screws for the iDrive screen. Hope that helps.

Thanks DavesZed. I've looked at pics of nav screens without the cover and looked at pics of the cover. To me it looks like the cover slides into notches on the top of the screen, but not sure how it would lock in unless it snaps onto the front while pushing towards the windscreen. I will look into it further when the rain subsides, don't want to pull the corvette out of the garage.

Ok, in conclusion I grabbed the very front edge of the cover close to the speaker grill and pulled rearward while pulling slightly upward and it popped off. So now to conditioning the leather so that it'll be more subtle and pull more over the edges of the hard plastic cover so that I can use some contact cement. We'll see where it goes from there.
Btw. Thank's for the responses. |

I checked with a dealer and the price for a new leather wrapped one was $157 so I ordered one of 4 in the us. So please don't think of me as an idiot for paying the price, but the cost of repair was within $30 just to repair. I guess I'm funny that way.
