Lease, is this good deal?
Hello everyone!
I am interested in a 2012 Sdrive28i and was currently offered a deal and I was just wondering if this is good or if there are better deals to be had out there? MSRP: $54,175 $3800 due at signing $565 a month including tax 3yrs/10,000 miles a year The dealer is pretty much matching BMWs national ad of $519/month (before taxes) on an SDrive28i based on MSRP of $52,845. This is also the first time I am leasing so any opinions/suggestion is appreciated. Thanks! |

I don't know what the current MF and residuals are, but it does not sound to be a very good deal.
I suggest that you ask the question in the Ask-A-Dealer forum where you can also learn a lot more about leasing, e.g. deal from invoice not MSRP etc. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=20 You will also find several board sponsors in SoCal who are highly recommended to give very fair deals. |

Thanks for the tip and link. From a file I found earlier of the 2012 rates (http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=580161), it seems that the residual is supposed to 62% and APR is 4.9%.

That information looks like it is from last August, the MF and residual can change every month.
From: http://www.ridewithg.com/index.php/2...-january-2012/ It looks like the money Factor for January is 0.00195 and the residual is 65% for 3yr/15kMiles, and add 3% for 10kMiles. Obviously you have to double check these numbers with the dealer you are working with, but they are usually pretty accurate. Also remember that a good deal means invoice plus dealer profit (~1000.00) and no markup on the money factor. |

Thanks for that link with the rates/figures. I made a post in the first link you posted and these figures should be helpful. But yes, I'll confirm with the dealership to be sure it is accurate. Thanks for all the help.

That looks like a real good deal. I'd jump on it if I can get that but it seems like that isn't going to happen.
Is this a better deal? What do you guys think? Z4 28i MSRP: $56,345 3yrs/10kmiles Residual 68% MF .00195 Downpayment + Drive off= ~$3800 Monthly: $560 including tax Any good? |

I wish folks would spell the words for us older folks. What are MSD's? Why would they be fully refundable? Bottome line here is you pay almost $24,000 and in 3 years yu own nothing.

That's the nature of leasing. It's a less expensive way to drive an expensive car. The $24K is just the cost of doing this deal.

With MSD + the down payment, it should be about ~$505 including taxes so I guess I might try and aim for that. Any advice? |

I don't necessarily look at it that way. I see it as paying for depreciation. Kind of like buying new, within a time period, you are pretty much paying for the depreciation. Lets say you buy the car for $55k cash but sold it in 3years and got $35k, so you pretty much spent $20k on owning the car. Numbers aren't accurate and I believe you do get more (or save more $$$) with buying but I am okay with that as long as I get a good price on the lease. |
