Hi all,

I purchased a 2014 z4 with low miles and the sound magically went out while I was driving (no pop, just cut out). BMW said it needs an amp. I have the logic 7 amp which costs an arm and a leg from the dealer.

Weeks later, it came on and cut out again. My questions:

1. Does this seem like something else--fiber optic cables, etc.?
2. Does anyone have step-by-step instructions for removal in this series? How easy is it and how long can I expect? I believe it's on the left side of the driver's side quarter?
3. Lastly, has anyone used a rebuild company on their amp? Seems like $300-400 compared to a new amp, coding, etc.

Thanks in advance!!!

I have experienced the same issue. Once in a while all sound from any input will shut off while driving. And then one or two starts later sound will be back. I have not bothered to work on this,as it only happens maybe every 4 months or so. I know the amp is located in trunk area, behind passenger side and the roof would have to be partially opened and supported to remove it. There seems to be a shop that fixes these amps (bmwlogicseven.com), and might give it a try next time it happens.

Just go aftermarket. More power and great tuning options. Plug and play too - https://www.bavsound.com/BMW-Amplifier-Upgrade
