Z4(3.0) stalls during rapid decelleration ONLY when the A/C is on...
My 2009 Z4 (3.0) has just begun to exhibit this problem: In sport/sport + modes while rapidly decelerating to a stop, the engine stalls... but it only happens when the A/C is on... I am scheduled for a visit to the dealer, but was wondering if others are experiencing the same. The only place I can find a similar history of this is on the 135(N55/DCT) forum... As my car does not have a turbo or a DCT, I'm not sure what the other common links might be .

Known issue from early 2010, on a few early Z4's. Complete reprogramming of the cars electronics, usually needs 4-6 hours unless it "hiccups", and then they start over. You will be much happier when it is done. do NOT leave your phone in the car and plugged.

ChuckB,
Thanks for the info. I took it in and they did do a software update. I have not experienced the problem again since then. I'm still wondering if it's normal (on a 2009 Z4) for the RPM's to NOT increase when the A/C is turned on? I have never had another vehicle that did not have an associated increase in engine speed when the A/C compressor came on... I thought this might be associated with the software problem. Thanks again. |

How do I find out if my Z4 has the latest SW. I don't see anything in the records about a SW upgrade?
