Yep EV will be the biggest joke on earth by then, all those spent batteries that can't be recycled will be stored in lead lined 'trumnas' somewhere where the sun don't shine.
Good riddance.

I stopped by my local gas station a few days ago to top up, there wasn't free pump so I had to wait about 5 minutes, which is about 4.5 minutes longer than I care to wait. I can't imagine having an EV pulling in to charge and seeing there is a 2 hour wait or 1/2 the chargers being broken. This alone is reason enough for me to not want to buy one. I start watching for gas stations when I get below 1/2 a tank, I look for price but will drive right by if there is a line up for the pumps. I'll also mention that watching people at the pump is an exercise in frustration, people don't seem to know how to work a gas pump, then they get back in their car and need 2 minutes to pull away doing any number of ridiculous things from filling their receipt, making a phone call or checking their make up. Pump Rage is going to be a real thing if people have to wait for an hour or more to charge.

"Pump Rage". Bookmarked for Murf coining the phrase 14 April 2023.

And remember, this "public charging" is the solution for those that live in apartments or condos, or don't have adequate electrical service or parking access for charging at home. It's offered as an easy fix for those that can't afford the infrastructural changes needed to embrace an EV in their own home. "Don't worry, someone else will build that for you. Buy now and trust us".

It's going to get a lot worse very quickly when those people in non-ideal situations run out of options and have to use public charging. Right now public charging is mostly convenience thing and many EV owners never use them, or use once or twice a year. If %6 of new cars are EV now, and most are charged at home, what's it going to look like when 100% of new cars are EV, and only some can be charged at home? It's a non-linear equation.

Yeah... that sounds terrible. I can't tell you the last time I had to wait for a pump to become available to get gas. I bet at least 5-10 years minimum. It'll probably happen today now that I put this out there

Answer is easy. PHEV. Government can still say all electric and it solves the charging issue.

With the current de-policing efforts of nearly every major US city, being a sitting duck cabled up to a charger for 40 minutes? Nah, no thanks. And being female (not me), even worse.

100%. And keeps jet fuel and heating oil costs in check. Best solution by far.

Had a situation happen to me that really got me thinking. Charger to my wife's X5 hybrid took a dump, completely dead. Took a week to go through the warranty process and get the replacement installed.

If I had an all electric, that would have basically taken the vehicle out for several days. These are the types of things we should be weighing and considering when talking about the viability of all-electric vehicles.

wouldnt be an issue with a Tesla there are charging stations everywhere....and also never heard of a home Tesla charger failure

but even with a BMW, it's not like you wouldnt be able to find a charger station nearby to get you through the week
