Removing the roof lining....

Guys, has anyone removed their roof lining for any reason? If so, how do you get the clips apart?

I'm considering putting a little insulation in there, nothing major, certainly not heavy, but I'm wondering how to remove the lining as the clips look like they slide into place but each one is at an opposing angle meaning that can't be the case...

Put your hand in between roof and headliner so that the clip is in between middle and ring finger and pull down hard. Some clips might be pretty brittle, so you might want to get a few spares from your dealer. Make sure you keep the little gasket rings of the clips as they prevent the headliner from ratteling.

lol the car is fairly noise free these days thanks to prior OCD moments. This quest is to improve insulation is all as I note there is none between the exterior panel and the roof lining. I'm a bit worried about just yanking on the clips tho... eek.

A new project is starting .. ah ah!
I hope it won't create new worries in your car

From my side, I was interested in cleaning this lining, but not sure what product to use for it.
If anyone has an idea.. (far be it from me to hijack this thread of course, just talking about lining )

Pretty straightforward, don't worry, you won't break anything.

I removed and painted mine from beige to ''fineline anthracite'' being a cheap mustard, ha.

Self adhesive sound deadening material. Its fairly light weight and sticks to the metal upper. My hope is to improve sound insulation, especially when raining as the car sounds like a tin can.

The weather has turned bad here now in the UK, summer has long gone so I didn't get chance. I'll look at this again next year I think.
