Odometer help !

I don't know how but I have changed my odometer form 66,000 something to 63,000 something miles and while it is nice to have knocked a few thousand miles off the Zed I'm left wondering WTF happened and how.
Any sympathy or help understanding what may have happened to this button pusher is appreciated...... car is a 2010 base Z4 3.0

This is virtually impossible to do except with the most sophisticated of methods.

With no other information, in order of most likely:

1) You are mistaken in what the mileage was or is now
2) Something has gone wrong with network communication between the cluster (KOMBI) and the CAS module which would have required another problem resulting in one of them to be incorrect

Does the instrument cluster show a small red dot near the miles display?

Hi NoQtr - Thank you for your reply. You prompted me to investigate further and you are correct!
The car was delivered a couple months ago with 65,000 on the odometer - I even got a bit of paperwork reading 65000 miles. After reading your post I just now investigated the PPI report from a BMW dealer that shows the mileage at 61,000. Mystery solved. It may have been reading a service recommendation which I cleared.
Total rookie mistake on my part - thanks for your support.
