G87 M2 hopes and dreams

Hi all, just wanted to post some of my thoughts about the next gen M2 and what I hope to be included in the car even if its optional.

I am coming from a 2018 F82 M4 comp pack manual and before that I had a 2005 E46 M3 comp pack SMG then even before that I had a 2015 M235i manual with the only option being the limited slip diff.

All great cars in their own right but after having no "fun" car for some time to save for a house, I know what car I would like to get back into. The G87 M2 checks off all the boxes on paper BUT… it NEEDS these things in order for me to place an order for one, otherwise I will go older M.

The G87 M2 needs the option or standard feature for:

1. The new carbon bucket seats (as an option)

2. A manual with comp pack together (not like the new M3 and M4 only let you get comp with auto… lame)

3. The look needs to be an evolution of BMW's traditional M car design elements, like power dome hood (power dome with a hood vent even better), the grilles very similar to the new G42 M240i (looks great why F with it), quad rear exhaust pipes and the front lower bumper needs more design from the G42 m240i and not the square thing that was leaked.

I have pictured below all my previous cars and what I hope the New G87 M2 will look like.

As for the price and BMW worrying it will reach the price of an M3 or M4, who cares not everyone will option the car out and the two cars can be around the same price without outshining the other, they just meet different wants and needs. Just my thoughts on what i've been thinking.

G-series M240i doesn't look as bad as the G 4-series. That is all I can say if the M2 follows that. Not a big fan of any of the G-series. If I am spending $50k+ on a car, it has to look good and the G-series does not look good. I hope they do not screw up the G-series M2. That is the hope everyone has but I think all hopes so far have been dashed on the G-series. I would take my money to Audi S-series or try Mercedes AMG.

Agreed OP although I don't really care for carbon buckets.

I hope the weight stays reasonable and there are more options for interior color as I hate black. Otherwise I want the same overall "simple" recipe that the 1M and M2 delivered.

I fear the price hike is going to be significant. The M2 already didn't lease well to begin with, not sure how far off it'll be from the M4 this time around.

Wonderful E46 by the way.

I can't wait for this car. I just want an S58, 6spd, and CF roof for < current cost of a G80. Hopefully inflation doesn't start the price at $69K or so by launch. Hoping it holds below $65K.
