I'd assume not so will be fixed like all the others.
I'm waiting on more detailed photos of it fitted and working
I would be ok with it not opening and closing so far I'm in for one assuming it's like that. Can't wait. Great find in the photos

I'll wait for one more company to see if they will offer open/close solution. I dont want to change the aesthetics of the interior. This would look like a cheap after market solution imho, this car doesnt need more cheap plastic in the cabin. Oh well

a bit disappointed, would have liked to see the original styling retained. I may wait on seeing it on a car before I pick one up. Can't imagine it installed.

I personally like this a lot. I will try to buy it once it's available and build a custom cover/trim to match the leather on the dash in an effort to make it look stock. Thanks for gathering all this info for us Dave.

Last thing, do you have the direct link to the product?

Ya know, as much as I like the retracting screen I think I'd be fine with eliminating that particular rattle...

Sorry, there is no direct link at the moment as it's not on the web site.

Some minor info on their Facebook page >> https://www.facebook.com/BMWcarmultimedia/
And their website is www.a-carnavi.com

you would honestly ruin the line of the z4 to get a better nav screen...crazy. Now it was a screen and software swap while retaining the current housing and open/close functionality that's a different story.

Whereas I appreciate what you are saying and, obviously everyone is different, but as most I know who already have iDrive leave the screen open while driving anyway then this new screen is no higher or wider, so as far as driving is concerned it is no different. To your driving position it'll look the same.

Well anyway an update:- I've taken the plunge and will be having one of these screens for my z4. Once it's here I'll be producing a video on it to include (short) unboxing, full installation and comprehensive "how to use it". I'm just awaiting finalization with the manufacturer and then we'll be a GO!
I'll also make a full written How-To as well.

These will then be followed by written and video How-To's on Auto Wiper/Auto Lights retro-fit and Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror retro-fit as well as a video on the Cruise Control retro-fit to go with my written one I've already done. I'm also fitting after-market rear parking sensors and reverse camera to go with the new Android unit so will do a separate video on that as well.

Stay Tuned

Looks pretty nice. I don't mind that it doesn't retract into the dash. Most cars built today seem to have a floating screen.

Question: The AVIN USA product seems to include an iDrive-like controller that can be installed so that you do not always have to reach for and use the touch screen. Are you going to add something like that?

The manufacturer is still working on the rotary controller, so yes it will be added eventually as soon as it's available.

Approx price is $750, contact them for a price to your door.

How hard to install it? Does it require some cutting??
Can you do a function demo and also DIY guide? Thanks! That looks sick!!!

Looking forward to a full review and install!

Curious if this will run MHD? Would be nice to get rid of the tablet on my dash!
