Thanks BMWZ4RIDER! I checked out Drew@SonicMS and his has even more impressive mods. I'm still missing the AR catless down pipes and charge pipe. More to do for 2015.

They look really good guys huge improvement I think!
Been trying to get my coding sorted to get my LCI headlight angel eyes to work but one side comes on and flickers 6 times then turns off. The other side angel eyes doesn't turn on at all.. Adaptive headlights dont work anymore too. Everything else like xenons, eyebrows and indicators work ok.. Do you guys have any idea why there not working? I had them initially installed at BMW and coding, then took to a Euro tuner for coding and then a remote coder in the States but still no luck. I Have FRM3 Max with my VIN, changed the VO and changed date for after 03/13 Will try contacting Niv to see if he can help out too.. Last edited by Ur_Up; 11-09-2014 at 04:35 AM.. |

Hi Ur Up,
Did you manage to code out and resolve your Lci headlight issue? I'm doing this mode soon and fingers crossed I have FRM3. How do we check for this? Cheers, Howie

Lci headlights installed without any fuss. Turns out I have the FRM3 Module so it was 100% plug & play!
Coding was required but it was simply turning up the voltage/brightness of the Angel Eyes to "High" and that fixed the flickering. Didn't need to trick the coding with a different model year. There's multiple profiles, ie. parking, drl, high beam, etc. for the Angel Eyes brightness so all of them had to be coded to "High" as the Lci led modules seem to require a higher voltage to work correctly. Angel Eyes fading in and out also caused flickering so they had to be set to "instant on" mode. Had the M Sports bumper installed as well. Loving the new sportier look with the sexy led eyebrows. Highly recommended mod. Photo below...cheers.

UPDATE: Had Niv recode "instant on". No more flickering when locking/unlocking via remote or via comfort access. Thanks for the tip HowieZ4!

Thanks guys! That's right Flpnout. I did the coding myself using the iViNi BMWhat iPhone App and WiFi OBD2 adapter.
A must have tool that can code more functions than the Smart-top module for half the price. The only thing coding can't do is to one click open the hardtop via the interior console button but key fob hold to open/close hardtop works like a charm.

Hi Howie and fellow Z owners
Congrats on your nice mod. How do you check if you had FRM3 Module so that it can be 100% plug & play? And any kind soul knows the part numbers for right hand drive and how do we know if our Z has adapative lights (as i understand there are two versions for the new lci lights, one with adapative lights and one sans). Can adapative lights be coded or enabled or is it a factory option which cant be retrofitted? My e89 is a right hand drive imported from UK to Singapore. Thanks in advance for anyone who can shed some light (literally) here. Cheers |

Hi Kyser,
You can check your Z4 Vin with Bmw Singapore and it should show which type of FRM Module is in your car. If you have FRM3, it would likely be plug and play with coding. What year is your Z4? Not sure if adaptive lights can be coded since I didn't see that option with my ivini software and my headlights were not adaptive. My E89 is also right hand drive but the LCI headlights were bought from the UK and they work fine. I only had to adjust the beam lower on the right side. The parts are as follows: Left: 63127348953 Right: 63127348954 -- Steuergerät Xenon-Licht 2 03/2013 63127296090 -- LED Hauptlichtmodul 2 03/2013 63117342174 -- Satz LED Module 2 03/2013 63117348935 -- Linsenschraube mit Bund M4X14 30 03/2013 46637659479 Cheers. Howie

Thanks very much Howie.
My Z is manufactured in Sep 2009. Could you share where you bought the parts from please? Beautiful ride once again! Quote:

Appreciate the kind words guys. The Lci headlights I got from Ebay as a complete pair, modules, ballast, xenons included. Once in a while complete pairs do turn up, usually in the UK. They sell for around $2k for a pair.
Kyser, your FRM could very well be version 3 being a 2009 year end production car. But to be sure, just let Bmw SG check your Vin. ManiacGT, the Concept rims in Hyper Silver go well with our sleek Z4. Nice concave and futuristic looking.

I'm in the process of doing the LCI headlight swap. I have all the parts at this point and have gone through the standard coding with Niv. I expect that everything will work as it has for others.
Does anyone know if a 2015 Z4 that rolls off the line today would have dimming DLR and tail lights? I suspect it would, and i'd like to find a way to retain them with the LCI update if possible. I'm guessing that the LED control module is a fairly simple current source with some basic protection features for itself and the LED modules. The module claims the pin from the FRM that's used to drive the 3 yellow accent LED on the pre-LCI headlights (it gets moved in the BMW retrofit instructions). I'm guessing that this is being re-purposed as some sort of control line to the module for brightness adjustment. While the original DRL drive pins are used as a fixed 12V supply for the module. I'd like to dig into this more and figure out how BMW intended to control the DRL brightness in LCI headlights. But first want to make sure its a feature that actually exists in MY 2015 vehicles. Anybody know or see any proof on the internet? The youtube is failing me here :-( |

Hey Flp and Howie
Can any of you help with the coding please? I got the lights installed but they are flickering. I can do the coding myself if I know what to look for. Also I didn't change the FRM module? Is that a must? Thanks,

Hi Oxo,
Sure, glad to help. First you need to code the headlights brightness up until they stop flickering. I used the iViNi BMWhat iPhone App and WiFi OBD2 adapter for that. Very simple to use. Seems the LCI Headlights require a higher voltage to work right. If you have the FRM3 module, it should be plug and play. Let us know if you need more info. Cheers. Howie
