+3 for the Z
I go to Houston and back to Austin almost every weekend and a 2.5 hour mundane drive has some thrills thrown in at a certain road that connects 71 to the north side of the tri-city area. People from the ATX should know what I am referring to.
Got a chance to run against a Honda CBR, I am not sure exact model but it certainly was not the 1000RR, I know better not to go up against anything like that. I was on the on-ramp and could see the bike fly by and soon I was side by side with him. We were rolling from 6 dimes and went to a buck sixty or more. Since Z speedo only goes to a buck 60, I am unsure how fast the earth was moving from under the Z, but I put so many bus lengths between the bike, I couldn't see it in the rearview mirror. Did 3 runs and everytime I put many buses between us. I know from a stop he could beat me hands down. Exited the PL and talked to him a bit at the stop. Gave him props on having the balls to go beyond a buck 20.

I am looking for a GoPro black to record these. I have a video of the last run but it's crappy video quality from an HTC phone. Has the damn purple haze throughout the video, but you can somewhat make out the bike and how long it took for him to catch up to me once I slowed down.
Yes Dragon Ball Z, I grew up watching this...

CBR600rr apparently traps 1/4 mile at around 126mph, I wouldn't have expected a "full bolt ons" car to pull on a 600cc race replica.
Going to 160mph might be different Crazy that you found a stretch of road long enough to get that fast. |

There's a certain road here that is forty one miles long and is usually quiet in the dead of night, not a ghost in sight, nor a cricket that I could hear. This is the only part of my mundane drive where I could unleash the dragon.

Dangerous, true...but if you have that 41 mile clear stretch in the dead of night you'd probably try it out yourself to see how the Z runs. Not sure about you, but I always wondered what a FBO tuned Z could really do. My first time ever hitting a buck sixty and now I have an idea what it means to unleash the dragon.
Vintage, a few of my friends have different flavors of BMWs and we do drive and dinner every now and then. If you are ever up for it PM me and I'll let you know when we do another one.

Sounds cool. I wouldn't have the balls to do that on a bike, though.
But it does feel nice to open the car up from time to time when conditions allow. There's 3 mile stretch of open roadway near my house that is great for stretching your legs a bit. It's a six-lane, divided highway with a median barrier. You can see for a mile in front of you. When it's dry and sunny, it's about as safe as you can get for some high speed runs on the street. I've only ever got up to 135 on there, though. |

6 dimes: 6x10 = 60
a buck 60: 160 Saturday tomorrow, go wash the car after a week of raining every single damn day, and hook up my new Garmin Virb for some WOT fun out in the boondocks.
