Giulia Quad Still Worth It?

Curious of the forums thoughts on the Giulia Quad and whether the car is still worth picking up here in 2022? I have an opportunity to grab one for less than MSRP (which is pretty great in this market).

I was considering an M3 Pure, but the wait times are insane and MSRP is pretty much the best you're going to get. My only worries about the Quad is the fact that it's largely the same car from when it entered the market and obviously the steep deprecation (I'd be financing).

All of that said, I'd love some input on this, especially from those that may have owned one

Great car, initial depreciation sucks. Used ones great value even in current market. Sure wish they’d do a V8 version.

Arguably the best sports sedan being made right now. Go for it.

My buddy as a non-Quad and loves it, small minor electrical issues but the dealer sorted it out, I say go for it. Have you checked out the IS500? I'm sure the markup on those is ridiculous though.

Why is the C63 a boat? It's pretty compact for the class (smaller than the G20 but a little bigger than the Alfa). Are you referring to the weight? That's pretty comparable as well.

Never driven ones but comments here and on other sites suggest the drive is not as responsive, agile as an M4, let alone the Alfa. More muscle car than quasi sports car.

I don't own but did drive one on track. It is a driver's car handled the track beautifully. I would buy one if I was on the prowl.

I say go for it. If I wasn't set on getting a 6MT I would strongly consider the Alfa. It's got some Italian flair to go along with its excellent driving dynamics, it looks good and sounds good.

The only drawbacks in my mind were interior fit/finish (which I've heard has been improved for new model years - but still not on the same level as the G80). Reliability has also been a concern but I think that's more overblown than it actually is. And of course depreciation - even though you're getting the Alfa at a discount, the depreciation hits a lot harder than a G80, so your cost of ownership isn't exactly cheaper due to the discount.

Do it - I was seriously considering one before the M3 but would have to take it out of the state to get it serviced etc - a solid two hour drive to the nearest decent dealer.
They sound amazing and look fantastic. And its got loads of pedigree and history. Great car if you ask me.

It's very competitive in the segment, and handles just fine. It may not be as sharp as the M3 or Alfa, but it holds it's own. DEFINITELY does not feel like a boat driving it at all, and feels quite small actually even compared to the M3, regardless of handling ability.

The G80 is technically better than the QV in almost every way, but it doesn't have the SOVL of the Alfa.

I'll let you know in a few weeks! Just purchased a 2020 Giulia QF out of state and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I considered new as there wasn't much of a price difference, but the current options/colors are super limited. '20/'21 was the sweet spot for me, as they made some updates in '20 but started cutting options in '22. I still have my E90 M3 and a Z4M Roadster, so will be fun to compare & contrast.

My only concern would be that there is supposed to be a significant refresh next year. Otherwise no brainer.

I've driven it extensively as a friend used to have one. I personally wasn't a fan but I'm biased toward cars that are light, nimble, communicative in corners etc. Handling is acceptable but won't stir your emotions. Very high beltline and difficult to see out of. Numb steering. Great experience in a straight line of course. A German muscle car through and through.

To the OP, I think you should do it but be mindful of depreciation and cost of ownership out of warranty. Regardless, it is likely the most beautifully handling and communicative sport sedan in the world, with a very endearing Italian vibe to go with it. Please go for Red, Montreal Green, or Ocra!

Ugh, I wasn't aware of a refresh. I always seem to be on the other side of those.

My friend bought a 2017 with 6k miles for $55k, seemed like a good deal given what else I saw out there.

Here's a 2018 Giulia Ti ("Q2" – mid cycle refresh model?) with 29,400 miles that just listed on Cars & Bids: https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3B2...o-giulia-q2-ti. Looks tasty with a mechanical LSD, adaptive suspension, ...

Edit: Never mind – just realized you're looking for Quadrofoglios.

Yes, easily the best sports sedan on the market. While the Giulia may not be as composed as an M3 it more than makes up for it with much more character, sharp and quick steering with great feedback, as well as a delightful chassis. And the complaints about the interior are honestly nitpicks, the updated 2020 interiors to these cars is plenty nice and provides great materials and a nice mix of digital and analogue, and above all else, its fricking gorgeous!

I had initially been waiting for the refresh, but it sounds like a) it won't be that significant and b) it's likely for the 2024 MY for the Giulia. It seems like new headlights and a digital cluster are the primary updates. Personally, the analogue gauges are one of the things I like most about the Alfa vs. the competition, so if they moved to 100% digital cluster, it'd be a step back for me. I also worry they won't expand the color selection, and my favorite (Montecarlo Blue) has already been discontinued for '22. In any event, I wouldn't expect much more than a facelift and maybe a slight bump in power, which wasn't enough for me to wait.

Same OTOH, not many opportunities out there for a Ferrari sourced engine.
