Natural gas is more common here, although not in my part of our town.

We have an oil-fired boiler for heat, and one of its zones is an Amtrol BoilerMate indirect tank for making hot water. Our electric service is only 100 amps, ruling out an electric water heater without a huge upgrade that will happen over my dead body. (My "dumb" electric meter is a grandfathered legacy service, and they will only replace it with a demand meter that sends surprise $1,000 electric bills.....)

That's an incredible run... 33 years! Mine only just made it to puberty, 13 years.

we've been here 10 years, when we bought the house the home inspection said it needed to be replaced. (but missed all the leaky skylights)

I looked into an electric on-demand (tankless) water heater but I'm kinda in the same boat as you, 100 amp service. A suitable on-demand unit requires three double pole 40amp breakers. I don't have the service or the space in my breaker panel for that so an upgraded service would be needed. Maybe if I finally decide to build a garage on the end of the house I'll dig deeper into an on-demand system but until then it's oil for me.
As for the meter, I have the latest bi-directional meter for the solar panels so I'll just have to keep an eye on the bills.

Okay this wasn't the LAST thing I got, but after 3 years with the iPhone XS Pro I finally had enough of the battery not lasting the day and I wanted a better camera. I picked up an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and wow the screen refresh rate was a nice surprise. I didn't think I would notice, but it's suuuuper smooth, and the camera is much nicer than I thought! I ordered a KUDA mount from Poland and a Scosche MagicGrip Wireless from Proclip. Perfect in-car setup for me because I HATE covering vents and buttons for a car mount.

The photos from the iPhone 13 Pro Max are nothing compared to my DSLR, but still pretty nice and a big improvement over my iPhone XS Pro:

This is always a good time of year to pick up fall/winter season apparel because they go on sale. I've always wanted stuff from FJÄLLRÄVEN. I've seen their goods more in Europe than around where I live. Being a Swedish company I suppose that makes sense.

Anyway, picked up this nice pack down hoodie yesterday and it's comfortable AF and looks good. Some brands, including popular ones like North Face or others look okay until you wear their stuff sometimes. This brand and perhaps Patagonia, good shit. Some brands are meant to fit better I guess.

Titanium, bolt action pen from USG (no, not that USG). Made in the US, won't get flagged by TSA (no window pommel), and works with several refill types, incl 0.5mm Pilot gel.

I've been wanted a better pen shell for a while now. Of the many options out there, what drew me to USG was the un-tacticool nature (deapite the company name), being made in the US, Pilot gel compatibility, and clean design with a finger grip.

There are a couple of other brands that I'll be trying as well but those haven't come in yet.

This is strictly a writing utensil, right? I can count on one hand how many times I've used a pen in the last 6 months. And most of those were for writing out a couple of checks for our landscaper this month. I can barely sign my name the same way twice any more. All the writing muscle memory is gone.

Being survival gear, I just assumed it kills chickens and cows, starts the fire to cook them, and can then be used as a rotisserie.

Lotta money for something I'd probably just leave one someone's desk by accident...

A good quality pen that's smooth and applies ink evenly and cleanly is such an underrated luxury. I got sick of the cheap PaperMate garbage at my offices. It's like writing with a piece of turd.

That being said, I wrote a check the other day and it took a surprising amount of effort to do proper cursive.

I don't think a piece of turd is conducive to cursive writing. I just have a feeling it won't hold up. Just my $.02

I gave up on a consistent signature a long time ago. If you reverse the order of the signed pages from my mortgage, you can see the exponential degradation of my signature into the inconsistent hand spasm that it is today.

It is an unfortunate name for a small business that makes pens. Any pen can kill but I needed one that would make me cry if I lost it. At least I won't have to worry about constantly breaking the clip off or someone breaking the pen itself on a flight line....picking up all the small pieces of broken plastic is no fun.
