Where to connect Negative Terminal?
I have a BMW battery minder (they used to be manufactured/branded by someone else?) and have a small problem. The clip leads are very short and I can't reach from the Positive terminal to the recommended location for the negative....
Can I use one of the screw mounts closer? There is one quite close to the Positive terminal that would do fine, if so. Not an electrical guy, so advice would be helpful and appreciated. See below (sorry can't figure out why it's on its side!!) Neg is clipped where I think is OK as the metal strut is connected to the recommended clip point. Am I right? Is there a better location?

One thing to note is never attach the neg to the battery neg directly. Just ground it out. Positive can go to the battery. I also try not to keep the charge attached longer than you have to prob safe if you have it on the winter mode but mental thing for me. Baby is in the crib for the winter Hope that helps |

OK I might be totally wrong here and I certainly don't mean to insult someone but aren't you able to separate the black and red leads by pulling them apart to make them each longer?
Sorry if I'm off base. |

Now it's spring and the battery minder apparently performed admirably as the car started up right away and jumped onto the road, eager to go! Even got in a little top-down driving, with the weather at 14C (57F) and some glorious sun...(which I now apparently have to be careful about having had a small melanoma...sheesh...and I have a convertible! Off to find UV-blocking fabrics because the car is too much fun to drive.)!
