Before we got a 17K Generac (NG), for the Y2K I got a Watchdog battery back up sump pump that spit the water 3' above ground on the side of the house. Except for the monthly test it never pumps. The original Kirkland Deep Cycle battery lasted 16 years.

Yesterday. Digging-out from under several feet of snow. My contractor was in several times to keep my laneway open in case I had to rush to the clinic. The rest of the crew took care of the deck and stairs under the watchful eye of my Husky.
