Cool BMS JB3 + Dual Cone Intake Installation

Hey guys!

Today I finally received the BMS goodies Straightaway I drove to my fathers house, who has a nice big garage, and did my best to install both the JB3 module and the dual cone intakes.

I started with the JB3 module, together with an existing installation video (for a 335i) and the installation PDF guide (also for the 335i) I set out to work.

I must say, I am no expert here. I have never installed anything like this before on a BMW. At first it looked kind of scary, all those wires in the ECU box, but with everything color coded, it really wasn't that hard. Also, don't need fancy tools to do the installation. These are all the tools I used.

Installing the JB3 module is MUCH EASIER on the BMW Z4 35i than the 335i mentioned in the video/pdf guide above. Basically you can skip half of those guides because you have easy access to the ECU box on the right hand side of the car.

If you have a laptop, I recommend having it close to the car, so you can closely compare information and pictures from the install guides.

---> All Pictures From Installation Process (first pictures are at the bottom of the gallery)

So the big question, what did I think about this upgrade? Unfortunately I haven't been able to try out my Z properly with the new kit installed. It's been poring down with rain all day today, so the traction control light has been working overtime I did do some motorway tests 120 km/h in 4th to 200 km/h, and OMG did it go like a rocket ship! Really a huge difference!

Soon I will post a detailed installation video (will take some time to make), some videos of how the car accelerates, and how it sounds with the new intakes.

Overall I am very pleased with how easy it was to install it all

The guys at BMS sent out the package very quickly, like almost the next day, just the USPS made a real mess of delivering it...

That is just awesome. What was the top speed you reached on that straightaway at the beginning of your vid?

I can't tell from the audio, but how much louder is the engine noise from the DCI upgrade from the interior?

Planning on a exhaust?

Thanks for posting the video!

Its not much louder at all, i only hear a slight whistle sound coming from the engine, but nothing major. I expected way more sound to come from the engine after the new intakes...

I'm not sure about the speed exactly down the straight

Exhaust is coming next, still haven't found a really great one... maybe in the next few months more companies will bring out quad tip exhausts.

That was a good vid!

Can't wait to have my Z4 chipped as well, waiting on the Dinan one to come out.

Eisenmann exhaust all the way!

I wasnt impressed by the sound of the new Eisenmann exhaust for the z4. Maybe its much better in person, but on the video it didnt sound loud at all. Maybe you can make some more videos?

Thumbs up

I've had the JB3 and dual intakes for the past 3 months and I'm very happy with them. I was going to wait for the Dinan chip, but after reading the reviews on JB3 I decided to not wait and take the plunge.

I've been using program 3 for everyday driving and I can tell you the power and acceleration difference is significant. Car runs great and gas mileage is unaffected. Pretty amazing from both a "bang for the buck" and ease of modification vs. benefit standpoint. Highly recommended.

I agree with you regarding the eisenmann exhaust Godius; needs to be more soulful (and louder).

These are two examples of eisenmann on 23s. It sounds kind of roaring to me, maybe not convincing about the cost, but they both look so out of place. Have you checked hartge? They place the quads more centered and it looks a lot nicer to me. I am just waiting to hear their sound though.

Personally I am waiting on Remus to build one for the Z4. They always sound awesome, and have great looking exhaust tips.

edit:

Just found this, http://lexracing.com/automobile/bmw-...remus-exhaust/

Not too keen on these exhaust tips though... kinda OTT
