Also.. anyone know the part number for the black expanding rivets that hold the trunk panels in? I can only seem to find gray ones online.

Interestingly I got 2 Z4 with similiar problems in between. Always the first move of the day failed, all following ones where ok. After replacing one of the melted in microswitches in the rear roof shell these issues were solved. I assume, that the green gummis on the small button of the microswitches harden out over night when colling down.

So it seems the hydraulic system itself was the main problem. Rebuilding the rams did not remedy the problem. Seems even after the rebuild the original problem within the rams still persisted. Inside the rams are valves, "O" rings, pistons and seals. Possibly, some debris made it way into a valve, or "O" ring. This would cause "blowby" a condition where the fluid blows through the system and returns the fluid back to the resouvour not allowing the internal ram to move. Thus no movement. Once the rams were replaced with new rams the system operated as designed.
